I will not use foursquare to check in at Sanctum.
I will not tweet any ingame accomplishments.
I will not bleed my live in a fantasy world into my real world facebook account.
If I had to use my real name on this forum, I wouldn't be using it.

Personally I like social networking. Sure "pop culture" has hijacked parts of it and corporations shamelessly annoy people... however... They represent to me, what the internet always stood for: Bring humanity together. Making the Earth "smaller". With all the change going on in the world, due to social networks I can't help but have a new found respect for them. They aren't perfect.... but societies are never perfect.

I use(d) Myspace, FB, Forums, Youtube. I'm not a big consumer but I like a good deal too. So I don't mind that companies use those networks to make money... in these tough times I tend to see beyond the logo and realize that jobs are linked to that product... unless it's the financial sector... they can kiss my.. well you get the idea.

As for how I use these tools to get up dates on Rift. Well I just come to the forums. I don't like cellphone so I don't have one. I do have a netbook with a wireless card and that's all I need.

I use facebook and have it show up on my daily "feed" so I am able to see the updates everyday. I love that the Rift devs are keeping us informed with multiple outlets.

I use Facebook and Microsoft Messenger connected to Facebook.

I've never tried Twitter.

I visit Youtube on a regular basis, though.

Tbh, I'm not into social networking. I've never been one to talk much.

Only ever check facebook, stopped using it when i fired my neighbour slaves and countered the power of facebook games (Take That!)

I never really deemed YouTube a social network but I guess I use that more then I ever use Facebook. Shame Youtube + RIFT = computer freeze.

Yes freeze, no BSoD, just going completely Arctic... for hours if I don't reboot o.O

I don't use any of it.

Bottom line...all your relevent news (scheduled maintenance, patches, major announcements, etc.) should be shown in the patcher. I shouldn't have to go to an outside website or dig through forums to find out why the servers are down and what the schedule is.

I use facebook from time to time.

I use twitter a lot to check for updates on things. I also created a twitter account just to post my in game stuff from rift. Best feature ever, seriously. Got a shard first the oither night and didn't even realize it until I looked at the twitter account the next day and saw a screenshot of it.

I use youtube a lot, though I don't search for videos, usually whatever I upload or see posted in forums.

Reddit is the best site on the planet.
