RIFT: Year Two State of the Game (part Two of Two)

Has Rift really let us all down that much? If it has why are you still here?

You know what they say about assuming... So because they post a short State of the Game, hey that speaks volumes about the company! Oh, they posted a long post last year? Yeah, because 1 or 2 represents a trend, right?

A trend means a to show a general tendency.

So yeah...going by the post last year and last summer..that's a trend.

I was really hoping that there would be something to re-ignite my passion for Rift. A politician surely wrote this piece. Very little of substance.

BTW, thanks to all that posted links to the previous "state of the game" threads.

Yeah, listing what's in 2.2 and a part of what will be in 2.3 is "lacking substance."

Umm where did I say that people that express their opinions are trolls? Your reading a bit much into my post. I was mainly talking about the trolls that constantly insist that Rift is going f2p.

My comment was in response to this What about shutting up the trolls for at least a few months and telling them that Trion has zero plans for F2P in the foreseeable future (not that it would even matter as I would still play Rift even if it were)?

You want details? Last time I checked, T3 PA, new zone events, Dendrome in 2.3 ARE ALL DETAILS. It's what they're WORKING ON. Should they reveal every single raid coming out in the next year? Every zone?

Hey yeah lets make a "State of the Game" post telling the community thing's that WE ALREADY KNOW; things that have been posted for over a month.

The definition of trend says nothing about "only 2".

We have a right to be disappointed by this "letter"..considering the last 2 (the only other ones posted) were much more robust and full of information than this was.

people asking for a state of the game update that is at least similar to the summer update of 2011 or last years state of the game are not trolling. It is nice to use the troll excuse for anyone who doesn't agree with you 100% of the time, that simply is not what a troll is.

First definition i saw and was quite accurate. Also indicates, more then the people who are expressing disappointment with the address we got your are in fact trolling.

I did not call those people trolls I just posted before this explaining what I was actually talking about. Really I thought considering the post I quoted it would be pretty obvious what I was refering to. Anyway guess I will see if I can edit it *sighes*. But I was responding to Synovias comment about the f2p trolls.

I'm not a doom and gloomer but the writing is on the wall unfortunately. Trion layed off more than 40 of the RIFT development team, the LEAD left, just as he left EQ2 before it went F2P.

I'm not even saying F2P would be bad for the game, I'm just saying everyone I've talked too has noticed there is an aura of unknown about RIFT atm and it's direction.

Even if you look in terms of content, 2.2 is slated to be one of the lighted content patches since RIFT was released.

This "State of the game" did not address the STATE of the game. Is RIFT growing? You don't have to give up numbers... What is the CURRENT stance on F2P? What is beyond 2.2, 2.3? What KIND of content are you going to add, just in terms of direction.

This was not a state of the game at all because it told us nothing about the current state (health) of RIFT.

The first state of the game from 2012 was a HUGE list of direction and improvements.

How can anyone even argue they are comparable?

Hey all,

Let's keep the conversation on topic - we realize that there are always going to be topics and concerns that don't get addressed in a single letter.

What I can say is that we'll continue to be open and communicate on important issues whenever we can and continue to have an open discourse with all of you into the future.

Feel free to share your opinion, or what else you'd like to see us tackle next and then move on - I promise you we'll be reading it and the less back-and-forth in this thread the easier that is for us to do!

I just read last year's and guess what! Over HALF of that post was a RECAP of what they added.

^cut down to just quote the part of the wall of text i will be responding too.

That was one of my main points in my first post the State of the Game should recap what they have added since they last gave us one. I would have loved to see a nice recap of everything they added and then from there move on to what kind of direction or things they are planing or would like to add.

What they gave us was, now this is just speculation, Daglar writing a post this morning and publishing it to the web. If they were having time issues because of the fixes or major patches coming up i would be more then happy to wait till next week to see a real State of the Game but it feels like they just rushed it to get it over and done with.

I thought the state of the game was short and concise. It would have been nice to hear more detail beyond 2.3, but like he said, those updates aren't solid ideas yet, and I think providing details would be a disservice. He talked about what he could, that doesn't mean he can't do another state of the game when more details are solid and more members are working on those patches.

The best news of the address is the lack of the words "free to play".

The reason people are bothered is because the first year update talked about general aspects of the game that people wanted improvement on and it talked a little bit about how they wanted to improve those aspects. (Long-term)

This update is talking about 2.2 and 2.3. (Short-term)
