No idea why you have to pay ~10$ a month for an annual subscription and I only have to pay ~9$. Not much about Trions payment options makes a lot of sense :/

Anyway, I'm not getting it until the CE or stand-alone exp. comes along, since 149$ seems quite over the top for something that would otherwise cost 108$.

It's a great deal at 119$ no doubt, and kudos to Trion as well on making it, but calling it "FREE" isn't exactly sticking to the truth though, and that's a tiny bit disappointing :/

As it turns out, there were some issues on Trion's end which they've resolved (I opened a ticket and they were responsive and helpful in trying to work it out). They then told me the Credit card company is blocking the deal.
I called the Credit Card company and what do you know - their system picks some deals IN RANDOM and blocks them, to force you to call them back and authenticate the deal (this is according to their own description). They don't even inform you they've blocked it!

After clearing it with the Credit card company I tried the purchase again and it worked immediately.

You get a whole year of game-time at $10 a month, and you don't have to pay for Storm Legion. So if you played a whole year at the other rates, not only do you pay more total in sub fees, but also you have to buy Storm Legion on top of that.

So yes.. it is "FREE".

I payed for an annual subscription on 6/8/12 for $107.88 and now this announcement comes out on the 14/8/12 , I will be here for SL and would like to take advantage of the Storm Chaser offer but feel it is unreasonable that I should have to pay 2 years in adavance to get it.

I have looked in my account and can see nowhere that I can contact your account department about it. As the subscription has started I cannot update it, is there anyway I can make up the $12.10 difference?

I have been playing rift since launch but there is no way I can explain to my wife that I need to pay another years subcription on top of the one we just paid so that I can get the expansion for free

I really think they should ave put some kind of notice or warning at least 2 weeks before the offer came out, so that people wouldn't have subscribed for a whole year and missed the offer.

All fixed, I went to the customer support link at the bottom of the account page, follow it then follow the contact us link, then there is a list of phone numbers including one in Australia.

I'm not paying for anything until I find out whats going on with gear normalization. If they normalize gear Trion isn't getting one cent from me and many others; you can believe that. Not getting my hard earned money if the new expansion is one big mess...

Ok I petitioned a GM in game who answered quite quickly to say that I would have to telephone the support centre on the numbers given.

I had to wait until 1600 hrs UK time as we are phoning the US it was a free phone number and they resolved the problem in 5 minutes.

I was most impressed with their help and the attitude was excellent they actually seem to know what they were talking about.

Upgrade to CE-edition is not free, can be bought on release(upgrade via acount)

You DO NOT get this offer in the normal subscription way.

Whenyou go to subscriptions, you will se the normal offers. This offer is not a subscription and thus is not mentioned here
btw the price of 149,- is wrong, its 119,-. in USD or 107,88 is €!
You account is mentioning prices in € I see, so for you the offers is €107,88(storm legion + 1year sub) and not 119(which is the price for US, not EU)

Hello! I've been involved in the discussion about the Storm Chaser pack in quite a few threads but wanted to bring the overall thesis here to what I am to understand is the "main" thread. Succinctly: Could Trion please offer an alternative method of making available "Landslide" the Mount and the "Stormbringer" Title aside from this particular promotion?

The following I wrote in a previous thread on the topic -

I am a current Yearly subscriber on special rate Founder's subscription. At the moment I have over 300 days remaining. I definitely plan to purchase Storm Legion and I would like the mount and title associated with this promotion - will there be any other way to acquire them? From what some posts say and whatnot I hear there will be a Collector's Edition that will contain different in-game items instead, so I'm a bit concerned.

While this does seem like a good deal for a monthly subscriber who wants to upgrade, for those of us who just paid our 89/99/109 dollars for a year relatively recently and are already amongst the most dedicated of the playerbase, I think its a bit much to make the only way to get that particular mount and title to ask for ~$120 - especially if this is not the Collector's Edition and one will have to upgrade to that for an additional fee (Plus any other paid-for promotions?).

Is there another way we can do this? I can think of a few options. For instance how about awarding those 2 in-game items to anyone who has a yearly subscription active by the time of the Storm Chaser Promotion in addition to those who bought the promotion, plus those that do can achieve discount pricing for Storm Legion of whatever edition/upgrade they wish?

Secondly, would be a special discounted upgrade package offered to those with Yearly (and 6 month/3 month depending on where Trion wishes to make the cut. Personally I think the volume of offering it to those with any multimonth subscriptions would be best ) subscriptions currently, that will include 1) The 2 listed items, Title+Mount 2) Storm Legion Itself, 3) All Pre-Order bonuses and *4) If the player wishes, an upgrade to digital Collector's Edition for a nominal fee. This package would reward those with existing yearly/multimonth subscriptions by allowing them to have access to the 2 special items, plus giving a substantial discount for them to pre-order Storm Legion w/ Collector's Edition, without requiring them to pay for another year of gametime as they've already been doing that!

Thirdly, would be to have the Mount+Title available for a small fee or free depending on what requirements they meet for their account and how rare Trion wants those items to be? There is a wide variety of "unlock" conditions I can think of here from yearly/multimonth status, existing Collector's upgrades, length of Veteran unlocks on one's account, special pricing promotions, those who ascended at least one friend, or perhaps just anyone who can pay $10!

In any case, please make those 2 items (Title+Mount) available through other means besides the current promotion? Thanks.

There have been many threads asking about alternate ways of accessing the content, especially lauded by those like myself on existing Yearly or other multimonth subscriptions that renewed relatively recently. Breaking down the package, the main question is the availability of the mount/title, as all the other facets are presumably available through other means. If a player wants a Year of gametime, they can purchase that otherwise; many already have done so and are in the midst of a recurring Yearly subscription. Storm Legion will of course be available itself whenever Trion feels they are ready for pre-order, and then of course at and post release. Players who don't purchase the Storm Chaser pack will definitely be able to obtain those benefits - however, the mount and pet are yet in question; they could at the moment be said to require a $120 purchase to obtain.

I hope that Trion will agree with me that gating any in-game content exclusively contingent on a player paying ~$120 as part of a single promotion is a bit unreasonable and doesn't seem in line with Trion's previous actions that were made to make content accessible and of a good value. I get that Trion wants players to subscribe and dig-in for the long haul and that a promotion like this is made to effect that change. As I've said before, for a portion of the playerbase the promotion is a great idea and a great value as well. I surmise that those that 1) Have $120 to spend at this moment and 2) have a month-to-month or short term subscription will find it most inviting. I've even seen evidence of those who are close to the end of their longer-term subscription are purchasing this pack knowing it will defer their subscription term another year.

However, there are a LOT of players who aren't in these categories, and I believe they too should have an opportunity to access Landslide and the Stormbringer title. One major group for instance that is oft-noted on the forum and to I myself belong, are those who already have a Yearly subscription and have a significant amount of time remaining upon it having renewed rather recently. These players are already investing for the long term, showing their dedication to the title. They're most likely interested in purchasing Storm Legion as well. However, it may be financially awkward to budget another $120 after they've so recently paid a similar amount for the coming year. These players are already in for the long duration and it can feel like a significant slight to overlook those who have already put their faith and finances into RIFT. As seen from forum posts from those on recent multimonth/yearly subscription renewals who are attempting to get their charges reversed so they can spend that same money on the promotion, the current circumstances will make many players who may be able to command multimonth/yearly subscriptions financially, wary to do so in the face of these sort of promotions - unless providing similar benefit (such as granting the in-game content, creating a special Storm Legion discount price package with content included etc.) to those with existing yearly subscriptions as well. There are also those who quite simply can't afford such a large expenditure at once, players on other multimonth subscriptions, and those in other situations. Yet, unless another option appears, these players will be denied access to the mount and title.

I believe it will both be lucrative to Trion and beneficial to the playerbase to offer Landslide/StormBringer through other means as well, such as those conditions and promotions that I suggested above. Having a handful of alternatives will ensure that players in varying subscription circumstances will feel there is an option to meet their needs, compelling them to make further purchases, while avoiding slighting those already invested or casting doubt on the direction of RIFT by putting in-game content exclusively behind a $120 paywall. I hope that Trion will agree and announce additional offers and I thank you for your time.
