I say that "PRIMEVAL FEAST" will take place in Conquest Area where "GSB" entrance is right now.

    What do you all think?

Heh I was about to post the same. It is still just instanced PVP. It is not open world PVP. People who are looking for that would love to have had goals and objectives in the actual world that would be meaningful to their faction if they conquered or held them. Seems like all any one wants anymore from pvp is arena style battles that have nothing to do with group pvp and everything to do with stroking epeens. It is the 1v1 mentality that seems to now dominate pvp in mmo's.

People join PVP servers in hopes of true open world. Yet more and more gets pushed to "alternate" areas. I was hoping this announcement would be the opening up of the dark fortress area in between Stonefield, Silverwood and Gloamwood. While it may well be creative pvp, it just isn't open world.

And yes I am not a fan of mercenaries. I like rivalries and opposing factions, I don't like fighting my guildmates.

They said one of the ways to win is by getting 5k kills.

And defiants would have held those objectives and completed those goals on most if not all of the servers. I think the current way they are implementing it makes the most sense.

The people who are the most interested in this type of large scale fighting are the same ones who are interested in doing WvW in The Mists in GW2 which is also instanced.

This is not true at all. the game who created RvR was daoc. in daoc was\is possible to do 3 faction open pvp (RvR) only is some areas (frontiers) that actually are multiserver too. so on paper i don't see all that difference..

    real question should be:
1- is there any cap to players who can join this zone? if there is cap is this cap enought big to make us not feeling in a wf?
    example: no cap\high cap(x00)=open pvp, 60 men cap=big wf

    ps.
pls take off 5000 kill goal it's really a few when you can pass 200 kills in 5 with premade standing 20 min in scion

ITT: a majority of excited, optimistic people and a minority of doomsayers making baseless claims about this new system without knowing any specifics about how it will work.

What SHOULD be ITT: 100% participation in a constructive discussion around how we can ensure this system is both fun and balanced.

Twinks are going to have a feast, I can see those little red monsters rubbing their hands and salivating all over their armors at the universe of possibilities this new format will bring. Down twink, down boy!!! Sit!! I say SIT!!! Bad twink, bad twink, no bones for you today!!!

The possibilities are endless, imagine expanding the sliver idea to other zones, plenty of big keeps and towers in Silverwood, Gloamwood, Freemarch etc

Would be fun if they added in the onslaughts idea, turrets you get to activate and upgrade, heck, maybe the crafters can do that, make turrets or siege engines, or even have nodes like Mines and Forests that you have to control to mine/harvest raw materials to build up your turrets, a bit like building and upgrading Keeps in Age of Conan, just not on a permanent timeline

Will be interesting to see how it all pans out, this is just the start, you can see the technology they have at hand in Instant Adventures, they can make items spawn on demand or on trigger

Except it's not really an open world. It's just another instance, and as far as I can tell has no realm-wide effect for "winning" that DAoC had (i.e. hold 3 power relics the entire realm does more magic damage). Which was a key to DAoC's realm pride.

I guess this is a decent kludge to get 3 realms, but it definitely isn't DAoC. It's more like LotRO's monster play.

One "possible" way to do this is a Shard per faction and each faction rotates every game or whatever so in essence it will be three shards fighting against each other, winning faction earns their shard bonuses for however long until the next "match"

Then again, i'm still not sure if it's timed or is persistent 24/7 and you can just jump in and out, if so, there goes the idea of a shard per faction as they couldn't really rotate the factions then...

First things first: I'm really curious as how this new feature will pan out, and wll try to take part in the testing despite them usually being held in the wee hours of the night where I live

    then...

Wintergrasp encouraged participation, craft yourself a full PvP set and jump in, man a cannon from the safety of the keep while quite quickly upgrading your crafted entry lvl gear to the same tier as everyone else, then getting stuck more into the thick of it.
Which begs the question... why isn't a crafted starter pvp gear set available? I don't know if bolstering will work in Conquest, but even if it does, having a set > bolstering.

Especially since it was hinted that pvp quests will flag you in the future... I've been done with Order of the eye rep since forever, but a new player (or simply someone who's done pve only and wants to try pvping) would have to delay starting this rep grind, since world pvp with just pve gear on doesn't exactly sound fun. (stretching the lenght of the grind to be on par with other pvpers even more)

....Aaaand it would give crafters some new stuff non-raid related to do too

I took what he meant as saying the prestige and what not are seperate to the Conquest system. That could either mean that its off the current gear treadmill entirely (and why not, if they want to lure people back thats what they need to do) or he could have simply meant that its not related to the release of new prestige ranks/gear. I do hope its the former but I see way to much conclusion jumping by people who are usually more level headed. Lets at least wait 2 days before we condemn the system to death by internet firing squad.

How the pvp system should work in Conquest:

30% DR Flat Buff, 60% increase in hp, 25% decrease in AOE damage. Valor and Vengeance do not work. Hit and Focus are irrelevant. Bolstering takes everyone up to ID level stats so everyone is on a level playing field.
