They were well positioned PR ploys, live in your illusionary world and think Trion cares about what you think, it is about subs, and holding them as long as possible. This isnt about your loyalty to Trion it is about increasing their wallet size. It is the same as every PvP update, the only difference is this one HAS to be hyped more because competition just got real.

Puzzle's post was as bad as yours. Firstly LOTRM is not a run and carry stones WF, its a hold the fang Warfront (IE Martyrdom).

Secondly anyone who thinks Trion could have made a fully fleshed out RVR system in less than 8 months is beyond insane. I doubt it would even be doable in a year. I'm not saying that is what we have here, it may be something else or some hybrid.

But whatever it is you will never like it, why? Because its a self fulfilling prophecy. You want to hate it so you will. So you can live in your own "illusionary world" but the average player will hopefully judge whatever Trion puts out on its merits. If it sucks, I'll tell them. If its great, I'll tell them. If you follow the PTS boards at all you know I am very fair. I don't bash Trion needlessly but when something is lame or has been half-assed I tell them. But I'm not gonna condemn a feature before we even have any information on it. But going back to the post, thanks for proving my point that this time is different. You contradicted yourself. You said it was the same then in the next sentence you say it was hyped more than usual because this time it was for real.

I play across three different shards (Seastone, Greybriar and Faeblight) and all three are extremely populated. Voodoo + Maximation quitting/leaving/being jaded does not equal "people leaving in droves".

Unfortunately certain people have more fun coming to these forums to vomit negativity more than they enjoy playing the game. Funny thing is the personalities of those people probably mean that they do this in every game they play and aren't really satisfied with anything, and its always fun to threaten to run off to the next big thing. It is perfectly fine to have concerns or not be happy with the game, but a handful express this in a way that makes them irrelevant. If I complained as much as some people on these forums I wouldn't be playing the game, and I wouldn't be wasting my time posting about it constantly.

It's like that coupon that says FREE*. Then you read * and realize you have 1 day left, and you must also do 5 other things first, starting with an online survey, and the purchase of something else.

People are interested. Some are excited. But opening with "vote on a new title" and "join us on the PTS" isn't anything special from the other excitement available outside of the game. To me, it's just "Oh, really? Cool. It's Saturday. Nothing new. Might go back to bed."

I think you misunderstand us. We're not rooting for them to fail. Rift still has the best and smoothest combat gameplay out of current offerings. This could have been a great PvP game, absolutely. They maybe can still recover, but I doubt they have the active PvP community to sustain it. We have just been burned, and are trying to temper overenthusiasm given Trion's track record concerning PvP content.

And are you really arguing with me about the semantics of holding the stones versus running the stones? Don't you see how ridiculous that is? Why is that stones are the integral status quo in this game's PvP content. That's the point I was trying to make, as sarcastic as it was.

The good thing about this is that the PvPers I have talked to are willing to check it out. The ones that have active subs anyway. The ones that don't cbf with D3, Tera, GW2 around the corner, and Dota 2.

I hope everyone goes into this with an open mind whatever it is, not expecting it to be GW2. Rift is its own game.

That being said, I hope you plan on giving us some details before so we understand how it works and what we need to do. Maybe do a Livestream event explaining how the feature functions.

I don't get it but okay, seeing as you are new here I can understand that you don't know who I am. I'm not hoping negatively against Trion, I just know their track record. This isn't anything new. The most hyped up event since this was weddings, and that was only implemented to feed Trions ego and get a Guiness World Record. I would love to see amazing PvP in this game, but the simple fact is it won't happen.

1. DR system would need entirely revamped
2. Macros would need to be redone so that everyone isn't running around with 1 button easy mode. If you think that would make me a hypocrite check out my youtube channel, I don't use them.
3. PvP would need to stop being carrot on a stick style. PvP is about besting your opponent, that is all it needs to be. The people PvPing for gear need to just quit, they aren't PvPers.

Even if Trion changes #3 with this update, it still would be mindless PvP because of the carebear macros, and DR system. I like Rift just as much as the next fan boy, but I'm not blinded, and I will continue to patiently monitor the forums until

a. Every decent PvPer I know moves on. or:
b. We see Trion defer from catering to casual bads.

Until then the best PvP in Rift is Forum PvP.
