RIFT Player Survey

For one the game has been out for over a year now and you have yet to increase your bandwith you get disconnected while teleporting, and don't try and say its my internet or my computer i have the best internet around and a alienware computer.

I think it's your PC or connection. Even though you "have the best internet around and a alienware computer" it could be related to your provider or some weird setting on your PC.

Last year I moved 5 hours away and got a whole new provider and have not gotten any disconnects. On my old ISP I was getting dropped all the times while play MMOs and started to use my cell phones hot spot to play since it was more dependable.

Glamour, look at the posts history of those on here that have said they received the survey. Overwhelmingly positive posts. If you believe it is "randomly selected" I got a bridge to sell ya.

I received one, and the account that I received it on is banned from the forums for being too critical of Trion (well, calling one of their devs names... they seem not to like that) . . . so not ALL of them got glowing reviews I'm sure.

Sounds like a routing issue. Have you tried a tracert on the server IP? Or contacted your ISP? Its seems you are in the vast minority with disconnect issues.

i dont know about vast minority most of the people in my guild are having the same issue they just send the error report and let it boot itself again and i'm the one saying something about it

Why only from selected folks? Why not everyone then you can tabulate the whole population, rather than risk a bias by some oddball demographic? Those that take the time to answer would then qualify as people with a modicum of interest in making the game better.

It's called a sample. It's a small group of randomly selected people. This method is not totally without flaw but it is the most sound way of getting a result from the entire population rather then just those who are most passionate about the subject.

And I agree with the others. It's not right to offer a title to only a small group of people. Anyone who is subscribed to the game at the moment should be able to earn the title if they want to.

That would be great. It really stinks to select *against* a set of your paying customers randomly for a reward that can't be won otherwise.

Because of the way survey statistics work. The effort required to tabulate and analyze data increases in linear proportion to the number of responses you get, but the statistical significance of additional responses levels off dramatically.

Oddly enough, the accuracy of the result has nothing to do with the size of the overall population! Regardless of the number of subscribers RIFT has, a sample size of 2,000 players will give a 2.2% margin of error at a 95% confidence (that's a weird way to say it, I know; think of it this way: if you asked the same questions to 100 random groups of 2000 players, in 95% of them, the answers would be within 2.2% of each other).

Going up, 2500 players will give an even 2% margin of error - but it takes 10,000 players to get a 1% margin!

(The formula, if you're curious, is margin = 1/(sqrt(samplesize)).)

The only value in having a larger sample size, actually, would be to get specific data on those oddball groups - and that would rely largely on self-identification, which oddball groups are notoriously bad at.

Did the update today and the "Serveyor" title doesn't show up in the "Titles" panal. I did the servey and finished it the day I got it. Is anyone else missing the title?

I don't like the fact we didn't get a chance to obtain the titles either, but don't compare not getting a title to real life evil.
