Gating sucks for me, but in all fairness, it decreases the amount of instance Trion's small team of raid developer's will have to monitor around the clock, hoping to catch any minor or major bug and subsequently fix, so not to be pinned with releasing an "untuned" or "FAIL" product. These were only a couple of the descriptors used shortly after HK release and I am sure they affected the way Trion decided to release ID.

LOL, yep people are born into this world talented at games like Quake and Counter Strike, those games are not a function of practice and games played / Free Time.

Being talented and top tier at anything is a function of time invested, don't kid yourself.

I never said people were born with it.

Everything takes practise to master, Rift just takes a lot less practise than being an olympian or mastering the games I mentioned.

I've been playing RIFT since launch though not hardcore. I'm reaching level 50 but haven't participated in a Raid yet. How will you make it easier for newbs like me to get involved in these huge 20 player World Event Raids? They seem like their out of my league.
Should I get in with a guild?
Do I join an LFG queue?

You should definitely look for a guild and progress through experts via LFG tool, tier 1 10mans and 20mans as well as tier 2 RotP and HK raids. Gearing up now (as well as the boss mechanics) to get into these dungeons is significantly easier than when I was trying to freshly get into raiding. Keep in mind, Infernal Dawn is the latest dungeon and being a fresh 50, it will take you awhile before you are geared to get into the content. But fear not, Trion is doing their best to keep content fun and available for those that are not as hardcore as some of us top-tiered guilds.

The short answer is yes. Any guild that got to test, or is lucky to have a dev on their raiding team has an edge. And, since on the PTS some people have the conqueror mount, I expect to see ID cleared with what they open VERY soon.
