    Silly me.
Hey, at least you aren't like me. I thought it was about Druid buffs.

The reasoning behind this is simple. Monkey see monkey must do. Some people are simply incapable of ignoring an "optional" component of a game. Many if not most single player games simply feel less rewarding if you don't do everything in them, if you are not, in fact, a completionist, and the attitudes which that sort of design instill in players can, and does, carry over into the MMO environment.

I'd like to make two points.

#1 You're apparently blindly assuming, or presuming, or just over, over-generalizing, that all players with these complaints are former World of Warcraft players without the possibility that some, perhaps even many, of them have never even touched the game.

#2 Telling people who want to be top of the raiding game in Rift to "gb2WoW" doesn't work, and it won't work until Blizzard ports Hammerknell to Vashj'ir along with the rest of the raids. /shrugs.

[humor]As an addition to #1, if you're going to be rampanty intolerant of others' play styles and/or methods of thinking, or simulating thinking, perhaps you should go back to playing WoW. [/humor]

Let me ask again, anyone has any idea when 1.8 is going to be released? Thanks

I imagine that 1.8 will become avaiable shortly after the completion of 1.7.
Since 1.7 now, is all about the carnival and the celebration of Rift's 1 year anniversairy.
Allthough this is just a mere assumption .

OT : I applaud the entrance of new professions to the game, wether or not useful( in useful I mean being able to craft better or equal items/gear).
Afterall we all play this game for the funvalue it gives us, wether or not we are highend raiders or just the casual player.

But one ' real question' came to mind.
If we will be able to add those new professions to our character, would one be able to pick other professions aswell?
To me the new professions are a must have tbh, but what about the people who are not willing to pick up fishing and survival?
Does this mean they will be 2 professions short then other people, thus possibly not being able to gain as much money from AH sales etc?

I think these 2 new professions will be more like hobbies than profession so that way people cannot make the argument about been 2 professions short than the rest. IMHO

In the 'other' game if you caught anything, anything at all, it counted towards your fish count. Perhaps not in earlier patches, but it did once WotLK appeared.

I would just like to echo what a few people have said already.

Both of these professions do NOT take up a slot of the 3 big professions.
You can grab them and train them whenever you want and at whatever pace you want.
They don't make a huge impact on the raiding scene as far as I know, so there is no rush to level it nor is there a reason to cry about having to max professions to be better at end game.
They provide decent alternates, instead of having to grind reputation and what not.
We don't know 100% what will hit live, and there may be a few changes. Maybe buffs will stack, maybe not.
    These are OPTIONAL
They provide a little more "life" to the game, giving players more things to do when they aren't doing anything else or just don't feel like doing anything else.

Honestly, do we complain about the water in the game? Does it actually serve a purpose? Not really. We can be like SWTOR and not include water at all, but it provides another layer to the game and among other things, since we now have it, we can EXPAND on it.

Just think about what I said for a while/

OH poo... it's about time they took this from WoW and the EQ franchise - there I said it big deal lmao! It's now the same as WoW's and I dare anyone to say it's different... o_O

In WoW you need a fishing pole and can fish up more than just food. Although here, I'm really curious to see just what the crafted lures can cause you to catch. Should be lots of fun - like a box of cracker jacks - just never know what kind of nice surprise you're going to get.

Why do they hate fishing?? What just because WoW and EQ have it?? That would be silly. We have shinies - hmmm... wonder where that idea came from...? We have costume slots - hmmm... wonder where that idea came from...? We have soul trees - hmmm... wonder where that idea came from...? Just saying

I feel the biggest reason I love stuff like that is because it adds a level of relaxation and immersion in the game that is just not there. After fighting all day, sitting back fishing by a tent sounds not only nice but fun to many of us. No...it may not give you the absolute best items and it may not get you that much closer to being the best, but it's not about that. Just because it isn't practical towards leveling doesn't mean it isn't to be enjoyed or fun. It's a game for goodness sakes. I mean..if you want to go that far with it, why are you playing this game in the first place? Nothing you do really matters anyways. It's not like your gaining real money or buying real things. Everything you do in a game in that respect is pointless...besides one reason. IT'S FUN. Exactly the same reason people like fishing and hiking up a tent...some people like myself think it sounds fun.
totally agree with you there, I am all for Kicking back after a full day of work and entering Telara to relieve some stress and get away from RL problems. I would love to sit by a tent and campfire and just fish for an hour or so in between Instant Advetnures, raids, and Rift Invasions.
