Well, uhm.

Trion didn't know exactly what was going on. No one posted the reason or how to fix them; rather, MWDP posted a claim that he had a reproducer, whereupon Trion did exactly what they should have done all along -- fixed the bug, then announce the details.

They did it right. If they'd announced the bug before they had a fix ready, they would have induced a lot more people to figure it out and exploit it -- once you knew roughly where to look it was easy -- and that would have done EVEN MORE damage.

Their handling of that was pretty much exactly right. The original bug was stupid, but then, that is the nature of security work -- sometimes it's just a stupid oversight.

Dude go read the agreement you are supposed to read and acknowledge whenever you begin any MMO. You do not own your character. Your renting it. You do not own your name. I was trying to be polite while informing you that you are incorrect...but your being ignorant and basically trolling on yourself. It states clearly that at any time anything within the game or shards can change.. Trion is under no obligation to keep your character active or even your shard. They could simply erase it all without a moments notice refund you the 15 bucks for that month and be done with us all. This is being done to make the game a better place...like EVERYONE has told you go to any shard you like your not being forced anywhere if every shard has your name then shame on you for choosing one that is so common that you cannot use it anywhere else. Aside from all that and beings you claim this isnt about the name change and that you feel your rights are being violated and forced into anything. This is being done with the larger populations interest in mind, while a select few including you are flipping out for no reason the majority of us are pleased by whats taking place and happy that we wont have to wait an hour for a que that should take 5 mins max. Have fun making this entire community despise you for I refuse to read any more of your posts.

Lol I logged back in to see the sheep still bleating when their fanboy feelings are hurt. I have read the TOS, and I agree that Trion can close my account any time. What has that anything to do with me raising some objections to how I might be treated as a customer, and saying that I will lleave if I lose my names? Or does it mean that I should bend over and just accept anything being done to me because I agreed to the TOS? So, as long as you're continuing to be rude, you'll remain a bleater to me.

hahaha wow I started reading this thread this morning when i tried logging onto Rift, I had the whole day to myself! and BAM cant connect to servers so I surf over to these boards and read probably around the first 5 or so pages. And there I see Cloudwalker *****in' about MAYBE having to change his name...Wwhich I dont even think he is in the North American server..and 50 pages later people are still trolling him for it! he keeps arguing back with the same argument. youre stupid dude. Definitely everyone should make cloudwalker as a name on all the servers. get noobs like him outta here and back to WoW where they belong...lol

Yeah, okay, and good for you with getting the names, Fishface. As for my friends, well, I am pretty sure they are going to quit as well, since we are of a like mind, and many are rl friends. So good luck with the attitude and rudeness, you'll soon belong to a (shrinking) community of like people if that's the way you and others here behave in game as well, lol. Here I am simply passing time and vent my anger while I consider reopening my WoW account where I have had the name 'Cloudwalker' since vanilla, and a reason why I want to hold on to it in this game (not that something like that would make any sense to the likes of you). I enjoy playing with the minds of simpletons, so thank you for the opportunity to do so.

TRION made no in game notifications, email notificatioins, and the support link on the RIFT client has no information about this. Yet when your subscription expires, TRION sends you an email immediately. Get a clue, TRION azz kizzer, they don't want you to know how incompetent they are. Go play WOW, at least they tell you when and stick to their downtime schedules with near 100% reliability.

The only reason TRION is doing this server consolidation is to save money because they are failing financially. And their ineptitude in handling this situation is one of the reasons why. And I say again, at least WOW gave me a 10 day free trial, and did NOT give my account information to the entire world like TRION did with their bush-league security.

Nope. I had to rename my main character when I moved from Estrael to Faeblight. "Reserved a spot for you" means you CAN transfer regardless of faction balance or population levels, but it doesn't guarantee your name AT ALL.
