dunno why anyone feels the need to pick on trion, didn't this happen to sony not long ago, not once but at least twice! and they are a huge worldwide corporation with billions of dollars. no security is invincible.

Is there a way to completely delete the Rift account?
Thanks.
Your attempts to pacify your clients has not impressed me. I am not about to thank you for your lack of security measures to keep my information safe.![]()
I love how only US customers are provided with assistance, seems the rest of the world can go screw themselves is Trion's attitude.
Just because someone else got broken into doesn't make it alright for it to happen to anyone else.
Actually, they have no choice, if they tried to cover it up they'd be in big trouble, I'm not impressed at all. -1000

I cannot currently see any DoB or billing address data on my account. Given that I've been paying for a subscription on a game I haven't been playing for months, I can't remember what data Trion had in the first place.
1) How can I find out exactly what precisely which bits personal data regarding me you had to lose? (i.e. not just "we lost your billing address" but "this was the billing address we had & lost" - i want to ascertain whether you had a po box, business address or residential address)
2) I've currently cancelled my subscription & deleted my CC billing info. Will Trion properly & completely delete that data?

Will there be any information forthcoming on *when* the breach happened. That would help some people pinpoint just which card information may have been compromised. For instance, people who sometimes paid with a game card, and sometimes with a credit card. Also, when people change their payment method and delete an old method, is that stored somewhere? For instance, with the Sony breach, there were compromised databases for people who hadn't even had an active account for years.

And yet another huge fail by Trion
When you try to log in and they force you to change your password and select new secret qeustions THEY DON'T ASK YOU YOUR CURRENT SECRET QUESTIONS.
So WTF are these for if you're not going to demand them at the point a password is being changed Trion.
Are you totally clueless???
and when you finally complete it you get this totally patronising comment:
Yeah, they take it SO seriously .. not!Thank You!
Thank you very much for taking the time to upgrade your account. Trion Worlds takes customer security very seriously and periodic updates such as these are necessary to enhance protection of your Trion Worlds account.

I really wish this was the case. Most companies hold your information in their database indefinitely. Just think about all the places you've ever used your credit card...somewhere there is a record. And that is not only limited to the internet, retail stores keep that info all the time.
Giving us a trinket is a little insulting though. Even if the thing gave us 100% more, it'd still be hard to justify using. And...it is literally a trinket! "They're personal information was compromised? Give them some bobble or trinket." Having it happen is understandable, being insulted afterwards is really a poor move.
This again? And a thread full of praise. Funny stuff.
I'd ask for my personal info to be removed but by now every hacker on the internets already has several copies anyway.
I'm so BORED
Luckly i just changed my password and stuff i needed to change thank you for your free giftsam really happy that i started playing this game when i was released best mmo ever pllayed

Another quick question: if you used Paypal for your subscription, are you safe from the info stolen? Or did they get the PW for that as well...
We recently discovered that unauthorized intruders gained access to a Trion Worlds account database. The database in question contained information including user names, encrypted passwords, dates of birth, email addresses, billing addresses, and the first and last four digits and expiration dates of customer credit cards.
O so nothing to worry about then? Why do you keep all your eggs in one basket. This has got me really angry and I hope people who are effected do a "super Complaint" There is no excuse for allowing this to happen. Why cant you encrypt all the data? It's not that hard to do!! Idiots being so laxs with my personal data
So it looks like the only way you can delete your current credit card information from your account area is by cancelling your sub, because it will not allow you to delete a current payment method that's tied to a currently running playtime sub. I would have thought given the situation, that they would have allowed us to at least wipe out current info in case of a second breach. So unfortunately I had to cancel my sub. And to be on the safe side, called my bank and reported my card compromised. Not fun. I understand these things happen, but some more information to enable us to protect ourselves would have been good.
