    One month after the incident and no updates or even quasi-official responses to some of the concerns voiced here. Truth be told that's not all that surprising, but it doesn't look all that good either.

    I'd like to see some sort of anouncement on here regarding if the security holes have been plugged.
    I'm thinking about re-subbing but am not prepared to put my credit card details back onto my account if the exploits have not been fixed.

    The impression I got was that as of the announcement, everything they were able to find was fixed. That's pretty typical; most holes are trivial to fix once you know about them.
    You can play WoW in any MMO. You don't have to play WoW in RIFT. Oh, and no, RIFT is not a WoW clone. Not having fun any more? Learn to play, noob!     If there is no new announcement then the original announcement is basically confirmed. If more data was compromised by law they would be required to tell you. Companies re not in the business of confirming multiple times that their announcement got it right the first time.

    Whelp, just got off the phone with my Bank. Fraud department of course got a notice from Visa that my card was on a list of cards that were compromised so they had to close my account and re-issue a new card. Since I have to travel and can't make it into a banking center before I leave, it put me in a situation where I needed to expedite the card which I am being charged $20 for.

    Sure the fee is due to me needing my card in a more timely manner, but the fact remains I would not have had to have a new card issued if Trion had taken customer account security seriously. I do not know if you outsource your security analysts or IT staff, but in either case it's clear the company does not have have enough diligence when it comes to the safety of their customers account information and was more concerned about saving money by cutting corners in the area of IT security. I've worked as a technical consultant and systems administrator for 15 years, I know how senior and middle management likes to save a buck, especially in the area of IT, without any real effort on understanding the necessity of the costs that go along with doing things properly.

    In short my account is cancelled and I will never purchase another Trion product.

    If you knew anything about our current world and how much information of yours is really out there,
    you would know that ANY site that you use your debit card/bank account for is in danger of being compromised. NO accounts are safe, and no numbers are safe.

    Here is a list of recently hacked super companies:
    PlayStation Network
    Citi Bank
    Exxon
    Shell
    BP

    I could go on an on,
    but to make it clear to you,

    A RECENT STUDY SHOWS THAT ROUGHLY 90% OF AMERICAN COMPANIES HAVE BEEN HACKED.


    And there is no way to know whether or not your information was stolen and abused by the same people who hacked Trion.
    You could have spyware, malware, key-loggers on your computer.



    What has happened here today is that you are mad that you lost your information (as you should) but took it out on the wrong people, the very people who aren't hiding the fact they were compromised.

    ANY PLACE YOU USE YOUR BANK ACCOUNT/DEBIT CARD/CREDIT CARD IS IN DANGER OF BEING COMPROMISED. PEOPLE CAN STEAL YOUR IDENTITY BY JUST WAVING A CARD READER BY THE WALLET IN YOUR PANTS. IF YOU REALLY WANT TO BE 100% SECURED, GET OFF THE INTERNET.

    Whelp. 1 post, account created in 2012. yeah I am SURE that you are an honest person who knows that 1 in 10 Americans are a victim of ID theft annually to the tune of 31 BILLION dollars. OR maybe, just maybe you are a troll who created an account to to Troll? Which seems more likely?

    This happened in December.

    If it could wait until now, it could have waited for a more opportune time. In practice, we know that if people had gotten full card numbers, there would have been hundreds or thousands of people on the forums reporting problems, not maybe a handful. A handful is low enough that it's comparable to the normal rate at which random cards get compromised anyway.
