how about we get a official post stating the problem, what it was, and how it was fixed from someone at Trion?

Did people work around the authenticator, or did they actually get our passwords?

    From Trion:

All,We have some things in the works right now and have been passing on your feedback, concerns, and thoughts throughout the day (no matter how radical or unlikely).Sharing sensitive information about our actions (no matter how broad) naturally also informs those carrying out these attacks. This puts us in a tight spot with how much information we can provide, and the questions we can answer.Apologies we can't be more forthcoming at this time, but we appreciate your understanding - its always our goal to ensure you can play and enjoy the game securely, and unfettered. Thanks everyone,

Absolutely NO PERSONAL DATA OR SENSATIVE INFORMATION WAS USED TO PERFORM THE HACK/BUG!

It is a work around, and does not require any info from you!

here are some ideas for the people who get "hacked"

    1) try running some decent security on your OWN end.
its not hard to come buy and most often cases FREE if you look in the right spot
there are plenty of sources for getting top grade security
from ESET, AVG, McAfee, KasperSky, Webroot, G Date, Trend Micro, Norton

    2) use common sense on what you click when you are browsing the web

    3) don't use untrusted 3rd party software

    4) don't trust online currency exchange websites

If you are following all those steps you should have no issues...

    TROLL AWAY!!
    Seriously breh?

Honestly, you may want to read from page 53 up, it isn't user end.

Look Douch-Bag, your beatin a dead horse! This BUG as it needs to be refered to in this case does not require your info, thus, it is not a security issue on the customer side. I agree that people do need to be smart and defend their systems properly, But that is not the case for this BUG! I also Have been playing since the beginning, Know what your talking about before spouting off!

    /facepalm

Another person who obviously didn't read any of the thread, and just wants to do his superiority dance. Trion, can you please just inform the trolls that the hacking was not 100% Client side based (meaning end user "stupidity" according to all these trolls). Else they'll keep reading the OP of this post and seeing interpreting it to mean the honus has been entirely on our shoulders, instead of potentially this glitch that MWDP found and replicated for you.

Yes, of course keyloggers exist, and people who have a password of "password1" will get truly hacked, but the exploit in the authentication that was posted about in this thread is nothing that anyone can protect about. And before anyone is all "well hur dur, didn't happen to me!" - did you die today in a car accident? No? So that means no one did? Good logic!

Ok, so I logged in after the coinlock update yesterday and all was fine. My characters weren't coin locked because this is the same and only computer I have been playing Rift on since beta. I log in after this last update a few minutes ago and BAM! coinlocked.

Tell me Devs, this isn't going to be a habit is it? I shouldn't have been coinlocked as stated above. Just checking to see if this is going to be happening all the time.
