trionworlds.custhelp.com is a legitimate Trion url. However, there may be a bug in their system that is sending out those emails without populating the fields within the email where the $$$$ are simply placeholders for real information. You can actually verify that the url is legitimate:

    what about " https://trionworlds1.custhelp.com "?

i got hacked and re secured my email and game, running virus scans, changing passwords and all that stuff. my main was stripped so i petitioned it. i get an email from "trionworld4@mailwc.custhelp.com" telling me my account has temporarily been banned because its been compromised. i can go to one website to turn it back on, although i dont care to atm (i dont play the game, but would like to still have my stuff incase i go back one day! i worked hard for it), but the part that worries me is that it says they will assume the issue was resolved if i dont respond within 48 hours (as per usual for trion), yet my account is banned, so i cant get online and respond. they give the trionworlds1.custhelp.com (more after it, they gave a link) to access my question from a support site.

it has the full copy of my petition and all in it. of course i cant do what you said in the part i quoted, cant log into my account on riftgame.com because its banned (temporarily)

    Default Scammer Email?

I received this email tonight on my old non-current account.

Notice the website using double V in place of W for the site address.

Just got one of these as well. Definitely a scam, but a clever one because it is getting around junk mail filters.

I have had the above badly written phish a couple of times in the last few days.

Many moons ago I had my email and wow account hacked, because I was a complete noob, and as I dont use that email for anything important anymore I knew it was phishing immediately.

I do have a keep safe tip though. It starts out as a bit annoying but its second nature to me now.

I NEVER EVER type my passwords for pretty much anything anymore, because of the keylogging threat.

I always use the on-screen keyboard found in accessories on my xp os. The ebul ones cant track mouse clicks. I have it on my quick bar so it is easily accessible what ever I'm doing.

Also, you can access your account from the Rift launcher, if you get any emails that seem a bit odd go to your account from your desktop short cut.

    Keep safe

Any steps being taken by Trion to locate these sites or anything that can be done to deter their activity other than the authenticator? Everyone does not have access to it. Fourth account hack within our guild in the last month now.

Another way that you can tell that it's a phishing site, I'm just about finished with my Masters in Information Security IT, read it slowly, look for grammatical mistakes that are obviously blatent. Most of these phishing sites are not from this country = not native speakers so the grammar will not sound like a native speaker.

I have seen amazing forgeries from phishers posing to be from WOW saying I need to verify my information or risk a ban from the game.

DO NOT CLICK ON THESE LINKS!!! I can not stress this enough. Unless you have a sandboxing technique when you surf the net, as soon as you click on a link, your computer is compromised.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me. I'll be more than happy to help anyone out

Great tip about the onscreen keyboard, I didn't even know I had one 'til I went to look just now.

Best advice is to launch the game locally, then you don't have to worry what site you're trying to log in from. If you're worried you might have gotten a virus at all (You can easily get a keylogger just from loading the page) use one of the trusted utilities most likely listed on the forums (Is the UnhackMe program similar to HackThis?) quick way to find out if you have a problem. If you need help deciferring the results im sure you could make a post in the right section, and have someone read the output for you (Me, if no one else).

Hmm. I just bought the game and subbed for 3 months. In-Game I got the 1-Month and 3-Month Veteran achievements. I'm in the clear, right?

The Rift/Trion websites can get a bit obscure at times. You get to trionworlds.com once you get to account managements, from riftgame.com

Trion, simply do what Blizzard is too stubborn to do.

Stop posting links in emails. Just simply tell players to go the the RIFT homepage and edit their account from there. If Trion's official emails contain NO links, it would be stupidly easy to spot the fakes. Even if the fakes stopped containing links as well...how are they going to get the user to become a victim?
