Yes, please add authenticators. I have the Blizz one on my iphone and I never have to worry about my Battle.net account being stolen in spite of the many email spams that hit my inbox. Please consider making iOS/Android/WP7 mobile authenticators. Annoying extra step that it is, it is optional and much more secure.

    Default Yes to Authenticators!

Yes, please do hook us up with authenticators. You can be as safe as you can with your information, but due to the climate in gaming now days, that doesn't always work.

authenticators do not save you if you don't use common sense (phishers just go through the authenticator recovery process just like the password one) and are unneccesary of you do use common sense and act with a little bit of internet knowhow.

the reason we say this is we watch guildies / rl friends with little or no common sense who believe that an authenticator makes them immune to hackers go do stupid crap like enter their login/pw to try to win "real" blizzard contests or buy gold. then they get "hacked" (they gave the info out themselves it's not a hack) and freak out

One thing I would like to request/suggest is to change the login name - instead of having your email as login name have a proper one, most phishing scam emails use your email as your login name, & people will get caught out thinking the scam is legit.

Example - Typical phishing scam for wow:

There has been a request to change the account details for username blablah@wherever.com, please click the link to check your details.

When you see this you know if you had a wow account that its a scam instantly, if your not daft enough to use your email as your login name.

Hated using a authenticator just one more step to log in where the above advice would be sufficent to protect the accounts.
You never had to use an authenticator.

There's no harm in providing one if it makes people feel more secure.

    Default Account Security Reminder

Since this is my first post I would like to say hi to all. I am doing this to be polite and show I am a friendly player. Now on to the topic at hand.

I have learned alot about security concerning accounts. First I would suggest all to not only do what the OP says about passwords. But also what everyone else has said here to. Which is do not buy gold or powerleveling services. That can get your account hacked quick. Do not click on questionable sites. Keep your firewall and virus programs up to date.

Next, do not believe every email you get in your email account's inbox or spam sections. Phishers will try to use an official looking email. That appears to be from Trion. But instead it is not from them. It tells you to click on a link. Then enter in your account information. Always come to Trion's official site and log into your account to see if what was sent was real. If you do not want to do that then call them on the phone. This way you are verifying what was sent.

Do not trust every tell you get in game. Phishers will try to use an official looking tell. Telling you if you do not go to website x and login to your account. You account will be suspend, terminated, ect... For some violation of the rules. I have no doubt that Trion does not threaten to punish you for a violation of their rules. Instead they will immediately punish you by doing those things. Also official looking tells from Trion's staff would have the purple border and logo.

Oh one more thing. Change your password regularly. About once a month. A chinese gold farmer for WoW said that if you did that alone it would greatly increase the security of your account.

    This
Probably been mentioned before but I can't believe the password rules pretty much forces you to use an insecure password.

8 - 16 characters, with very few special characters, no spaces, means that complex pass phrases are out. My average password length is around 30 characters.

Not being able to save your password in the game launcher means that most people aren't going to use random strings of letters and numbers and will instead use a common, well remembered password because they want to get int he game ASAP without having to look it up in a password manager.

The low quality of the password rules makes me think that Trion isn't taking account security at all seriously.
    should warrant this response...

    because this...
    Thanks for the advice.

Aside from being close-minded and incorrect...

Is an answer from someone who, not only is just thinking of themselves, but one who does not understand how the current security measures are simply not sufficient.

    Plus....
    More subscribers
    leads too..
    more passwords
    which leads too...
    less password uniqueness
    which leads too...
a chance you have the same password as me...
    which leads too...
    well, you get the idea.

This is especially useful when using brute force type attacks which are easier to use on a launcher that is authenticated from the desktop.... Yet another aspect I am not a huge fan of.

Authenticators are like car insurance... You hate having them until you wish you had one.
