How do you launch the game normally? Do you usually run anything other than riftpatchlive.exe? You say that running riftpatchlive.exe directly lets you log in, but that is actually the launcher executable so there's really no other way to run the game. I'm wondering how you're getting it to give you 2016 when launching it one way but no errors when launching it another way. Apart from the login issue there seems to be another problem where the game crashes on startup. Have you tried running in windowed mode instead of full screen? You can choose Windowed mode from the patcher SETTINGS screen or manually changing the %APPDATA%\RIFT\rift.cfg file.
