    Default Learning Mode

Having recently returned again, I am struggling a bit trying to relearn or incorporate changes that have happened since I last played. My goto method right now is to create a new character and learn stuff all over again. This is very time consuming.
I would just like to be able to add points to the soul tree as if you were leveling on a max character and learn how to weave new skills, etc into what I already know.
The guides are wonderful if I am just tweaking something for raid dps. But right now when you give me a bunch of new skills all at once it is a tad confusing.
For example. I popped in on day one with my Riftblade build and it took me a while to notice that Rift Implosion was no longer there. Plus the sub-souls in the last version I used are different than the current ones.
    Thanks.

Whenever I start a new spec or a new class, I go through and read the tree. The majority of the time, your rotation is different at max than it is while you're leveling. After you've read the soul tree and have a good idea of what each ability does, then read the guide to find out how to bring it all together. If you read the guide first, you lose out on learning how the spec actually works, especially for macro-heavy specs.

After a little practice it's real easy to read through a soul. You can quickly identify what is a core mechanic and what's just another stat boost or spam ability.

Also, it's a great way to learn a spec by starting off simple and working your way up instead of just memorizing the 60 gcd rotation without having a clue what it does.

Most current specs can be as simple as one or two macros and as difficult as to needing 15+ keybinds to min/max. By laying the ground work you'll have a much smoother learning curve.

Also, if you're not the type, try videos. There are also a lot of people out there who can explain stuff.
