    Default Temporary PTS Change - Disabled NPCs

    Hey, just thought I'd give a heads up that soon there will be some testing in place on PTS that will involve the removal of the majority of NPCs from the game world. This means that the quest givers and most of the mobs that run around the game world will be missing, so no need to worry if you hop on PTS and see that it's empty. This should only effect the open world, instances should remain untouched in this aspect.

    I'm curious about what kind of testing require to remove all the NPC from the PTS...

    Hope you will give us some informations.

    Uh oh. First the NPCs get static faces (some of which look ridiculous up close), then our animations get cut short (my poor Embri only does one animation now, and my Deadwater companion pet no longer stretches his arms or head!), then I started noticing everything becoming more 'blocky', like my poor Najmok/Gorilla/Murdantix mounts' hands are all blocky now...and now Trion might be testing out what it's like to remove NPCs from the game?

    Obviously as SupermanSocks mentioned it is temporary, but I wonder if this is to test how much NPCs are weighing down on the game's performance; perhaps a cut-back is coming?

    Edited to Add: Oh, animations are working properly again on PTS. My Deadwater isn't dead anymore!

    since you mentioned "blocky", it seems to me like they're testing how removing "detail" or vertices from a model can affect the performance of the game.

    I honestly can't give a good date at this time. I have been waiting on a new patch though which will remove the restriction on not being able to go to certain zones, but the non-instanced/city NPCs might stay disabled a bit longer. Sorry :-/

    Kinda curious as to why the SL zones are being locked out. Mathosia makes sense with PTW and the massive amount of work needed on it. SL zones though can't make it to PTW, at least last I checked.

    It actually has nothing to do with zones in general, it was just a side-effect of a certain change I made which I changed to go in with the next PTS update.
