Oh and healing clerics are not underpowered. I have a feeling I'm going to regret biting into the fishing pole on that one though.
as a fully gear mage i have fought many bad rs/nbs but fighting a really good one with all the his cooldowns is one of hardest fight i have ever fought the only thing thats hard is a really good MM. i use 51 pyro 15 wl o ar the only thing i tell mages is to get more hp with selfbuff i have 9300 hp and still crit you for about 2k. oh and a nb/as can kill about 5 times faster then rs/nb idk why more rouges dont use it
Having played a mage, rogue and cleric to rank 40 or nearly rank 40.. I can tell you that each class has their OP spec's. Other than the Cleric, not that the cleric's specs are bad, their is just nothing ridiculously OP. My character of choice at the moment is the cleric for pvp.
But then, I don't like being overpowered, I would rather play something unique. I played the mage till they got buffed, and stopped playing the mage. I played the rogue till they got buffed, and stopped playing the rogue. I guess I will play the cleric until it gets buffed and roll a warrior once they get nerfed.
Their are a few problems with Rogue/ warrior that I see. Their dps scales faster with better weapons than any other class in the game. Their PvP abilities are passive (heal debuffs without effort), their break free style abilities are plentiful on short CD's, and their defensive capabilities come with little to no side effects (Aka, can still be doing good pvp dps). Their good pvp abilities are also readily available, not stuck 30-40 points into a tree.
Despite all that, I still enjoy playing the cleric. Just stop stripping all my buffs every 6 seconds, and heal debuffing an entire WF worth of players and things would look a lot brighter for the cleric.

Beyond that, I listed around ten specs and you've poked at two of them. So mages have eight viable PVP builds. Is that an issue? I'm not seeing what's wrong with that--most callings have less.

One sentence to describe how bad the PvP balance between classes is in this game:
To find the solution one must educate, not eradicate.
I'm so BORED
This seems to be the typical summary from what I've seen:
"Everyone is overpowered except for me, nerf them!"
Level 60 High Elf Mage (Guardian)
Elder Warden of <Grey Wardens of Telara>
Each of the 4 classes has a number of souls... get to know each. Some classes have more souls that work for pvp than others... although sometimes great souls get overlooked. Rogue has a number of souls that work pretty damn well in pvp, especially after 1.8. Warrior has some shining ones... but you'd never know because 90% of them just run RB and their Corned Beef bm all over the place. Clerics are mainly healers... (go figure)... but a good inquis can put out some incredible pain on the warfront. And little is quite so powerful for a team than a couple healers doing circle jerk healing for a team. Spreading HOTS all over the team like a case of crabs in a Tijuana brothel. You dislike dieing to NB/RS as a mage? You have some options. Squirl/load/blow, squirl/load/blow with teles to get alway... a spec with some dispels, or better yet... whatever the F' my guildy figured out. I don't remember what the hell setup he's using, but I see rogues exploding on him in melee now like flies. Then again... he runs all sorts of odd things like.. Archon in warfronts. :P I think he was running a defilemancer setup the other day and rocking it.
Bottom line, learn all your souls... have more than 1 freaking role slot for pvp... and be proactive enough to change specs depending on what you're fighting. Rather than blanket complaining about someone killing you in the 1 spec you like running.
Laban Rogue <That Guild>. Bad... good? I'm the guy with the gun.
squirrel > dead, Planeshift > dead, rebuke > dead, Rift storm > dead
1200 valor does nothing for me, if they can burn through that and kill me before I can even get my break free off, some of this WF damage needs toned seriously down. It's not about skill, it's about whose abilities are off CD

I've played all classes.
I don't think there is a balance problem with a mage. It is easy to get a lot of kbs with numerous specs. Healing is frustrating in a pug depending upon the map because you need to be someone clustered to be really successful.
Spell reflect for your entire group is silly, and if there was arena present Rift (Which myself and many wish there was), Dom based specs would be mandatory for a group to be successful just because of this spell as it basically nullifies all other dps casters on the other team. I know in 5 mans right now, this is the case.
Rogue, some specs I find frustrating. BD/Sin or Night Assassin specs can be good and output decent dps as melee. Against a warrior with equal dps, the warrior will win and they are more durable. I think this might be exaggerated as I find I need to replace a lot of valor gear with hit gear in order to be viable all against them (which hopefully will be fixed with the addition of hit to the gear in 1.9).
Vs a rogue as mage..as 51 pyro if I were to solo them I would have a problem as I am lacking durability. But even with a grindy spec like Necro-lock, it is easy to take them apart.
Rogue's "OP" ability would be eradicate..making mm required in 5mans or arena type matches..I don't think it is a huge game changer in pugs now..but when choosing winning compositions it would be for smaller groups. Having a spammable purge is a huge advantage when playing against certain classes and in itself can be a game changer.
