    Default PVP 1.3 Discussion

    Greetings!

    We wanted to provide individual threads for each archetype to discuss and share their feedback. Please use this thread to provide your feedback for the upcoming changes in Update 1.3. Your feedback is important and can help shape and refine these changes - nothing is permanent on the Public Test Shard and your feedback is vital to the process!

    With 1.3 we've focused on tuning around giving level 50 players a better on ramp into PVP, allowing lower rank players to have better chance of surviving vs. high rank (or raid geared players) through a higher base valor value and more ways to obtain valor pre-50. In addition these adjustments continue to improve PVP gear progression ensuring that the more Valor you get the better your chance of survival, especially against those players using gear without Valor.

    Specifically we wanted to address the lethality of critical hits in PVP which was causing a number of situations where players (or their allies) would die from damage spikes with no way to react to the attack. In addition we are continuing to hand tune specific ability combinations for PVP (without touching PVE performance) that would result in similar results without the aid of a critical hit.

    Finally we realize that increased survivability will also increase the effectiveness of healing and defensive abilities, and we will be closely watching these particular builds on PTS (and live). Our overall goal is to ensure that healing and support is desired in team play but doesn't create builds with both extreme durability and offense at the same time.

    Over the next week we plan on having a number of PVP oriented play tests on our PTS server to help us gather feedback, and so that we can continue to tune these values prior to 1.3 being released.

    COMBAT
    * Stealth: Fixed a bug with toggling melee auto-attack would cause stealth to break.
    * Fixed a bug causing the Class Mechanic UI to display effects from other players instead of just your own (ex: Stormcaller, Necromancer).
    * Fixed some effects on pets to be lost when teleporting.
    * Fixed an issue causing abilities to fail to work properly against players that had just been stunned while jumping.
    * Mana: Changed the way mana-regeneration is calculated to now include diminishing returns. This should have little impact on leveling characters and is only noticeable once higher levels of gear are attained.


    PVP/WARFRONTS
    * Channeled abilities used in PvP against player targets will now break if the target moves out of the channeling caster's range, or line-of-sight.
    * All level 30+ PvP rewards now have Valor.
    * Valor updates have been reverted and will not be going live in 1.3. See this post for details, thanks!

    This is going to make healers into gods.
    Red ball + fulminate + really craptacular dom/pyro spec trying to hard cast transmog and pray your spell lands before some squirrel punching moron eats your controlled opp proc = +1 board warrior keeping mages from being realistically balanced in PVE or PVP. 1.0-1.2's best combo in the game. RIP FOTM Pyro rollers

    there is no thought put into this at all. This does 2 things it make pve gear better than it should be for pve. And my god healers will never die and neither will anyone else fights will be determined by whichever teams healers runs out of manna first.

    In one foul swoop Trion has destroyed pvp as we know it in Rift, and I really wish I was being dramatic.
    Retired due to lack of PVP content and boring/repetitive game mechanics.

    Are these things going to stack with soul/talent resistances?

    As for those above me screaming bloody mary, remember many of you asked for this. You were upset that mages can burst you down in one shot, you were upset that the game was a DPS race. Well, now no one will die as long as healers are around. Including the healers.

    You have nerfed damage across the board for PvE(or MAYBE pvp?) purposes. So then you raise the amount of mitigation.

    You want to make fights longer in an attempt to create more strategy in PvP, right?

    A much needed change, in my opinion. Many games reduce dmg in PvP so you have time to react allowing for a little strategy.
