Default Has anyone read or is reading....

The song of fire and ice books? (Game of Thrones, Clash of Kings, etc)

I am in the middle of the 3rd book (they are about 1000 pages each)

The series is awesome, they have 4 books out now and the total series is going to be 6. Anyone who's into MATURE fantasy check it out.

They are very good books, but way, WAY too slow to come out. Prepare for a wait.

If you like those, you may wish to try the Coldfire trilogy, by C.S. Friedman.

Yes, the series looks epic. I will get HBO just because of that. Just like I purchased stars JUST for Sparatcus and then canceled when the season was over, lol.

They are pretty damn good for the political backstabbing, but Bakker is now my favorite for world building/political backstabbing with an insane twist of Messianic and alien bad guys.

There is also Legend of the Seeker. I know there was a TV show out about it not too long ago, but my friend says the books are really good. I think they are by Terry Goodwin? errr, Goodkind? I don't know, I'm not a reader

Most of Brandon Sanderson's works are good reads as well, the newest hardback was pretty interesting.

Yeah they're favorite fantasy books, though I'm not a huge fan of the genre in general.. Mostly due to it being hard to find that kind of quality. Pretty excited to see the HBO series too.

Been considering picking up some of Glen Cook's stuff, as I've heard good things.

For another good, boggle your mind fantasy series, try The Malazan Book of the Fallen. It is writen by Steven Erikson and it starts with Gardens of the Moon.

    Top 3:

    1. Joe Abercrombie
    2. Steven Erikson
    3. R. Scott Bakker

Nothing else is worthy in that genre.
