Pretty simple. I know that there are a lot of cheapskates in this world, so please come and out yourselves in this thread! And provide your reasoning if you flat out refuse to ever tip!

Yes, usually overly generous (20-30% if they were friendly and accommodating). I'd be ashamed not to. You can tell a lot about a person's character by the way they treat those who serve them.

Why wouldn't someone tip? Especially if you EVER coming back to that place and expect not to get spit or worst in your food.
I follow a simple rule, 10% if the service wasn't all that great, 15% if it was ok, 20-25% if it was awesome.

No, I rarely tip in restaurants. Then again, I live in a country where people who work in restaurants actually get a decent wage.

Yeah, that ruined me for a while after I went to Europe and came back. I also noticed that people across the water tend to be MUCH friendlier and much more caring and attentive.

If she's cute, I may tip. Also depends on the service, attitude, etc.

Generally I scrape by, but if I'm sitting on a pile of money which happens from time to time I'll be more generous with tips.

Funny, whenever I'm in the mid-west and south of the US I always think the service there is much better than it is here ;)

Oh, and to be fair, I DO tip when I'm in the US.

Depending on service.... if its absolute crap I leave... if it was good then I give them a decent amount.

From my understanding, the US waiting jobs pay ****, and tips make up their wage. In Australia its very different, you get paid a decent wage, less people tip. That being said, our service industry is sub-par compared to the US one, from my experience. I do tip though, but I dont follow this % rule. I just round out the figure and dont ask for change. If its ****, i will get the change, even if its a couple of bucks.

Always, even if bad service.... of course if that's the case it will be fairly stingy tip compared, say 10% or so

good or better service is like 20%+

It's pretty dumb and undeserved most of the time - but 20%. Almost always. The only exception is if they're overtly rude or obnoxious, then I typically tip 10%. If they're awesome or end up replacing an item they brought me (undercooked, didn't like, etc) I'll go 30 to 40%.

A ton of my friends are in the restaurant business as servers, cooks, and bartenders so it's kind of a habit to over-tip.

I went out to dinner one evening and the server was this dude (note: I'm also a dude) who was extremely friendly, attentive and took very good care of me and my group. I gave him a 50% tip on a $120 bill. He literally stopped me on the way out and hugged me in front of everyone.

Made me feel good, him better, and I'm pretty sure every girl in the group that night wanted to show me their chest.

Over-tip some time. It can have awesome consequences.

I tip unless the service is terrible due to my waitress/waiter.

And on a side note I once got tipped $50 from a guy whose bill was less then $20. So sweet.

I over tip them. XD Don't want to deal with handling too much change. Unless they're terrible and I give them the bare minimum tip. >.>
