    Default Jurassic Park... with Cows

Remember those cave paintings of massive cattle you saw in history class?

Those guys. Over 6 feet tall at the shoulders and weighing more than a ton. They're called aurochs and went extinct in 1627.

Well there's several projects under way trying to bring these things back to life using DNA from ancient auroch bones. Plan is to find descendants of the aurochs in modern cattle, breed them together to retain the auroch DNA, and get rid of the non-auroch DNA. Scientists think they can recreate the auroch in a decade or so and reintroduce them into the wild.

Here's an artist rendering of the beast.

I hope they're doing this because they suspect those beasts will taste delish!

Well bison tastes great so I don't see why these guys wouldn't.

Imaging being the first restaurant out there cooking extinct steaks. Eccentric millionaires from across the globe paying you 10 grand a meal.

I can totally see that situation happening...of course, they'd probably have to get it from the black market...since they'd be counted as endangered if this works
