    Post Need new game RiG

    Hello
I'm in a need for a new game rig and i can't make up my mind what to pick of these two builds.
    First build:
    Gigabyte GA-870A AM3 motherboard
    PhenomII 1055T 6x2,80GHz CPU
    Kingston 4GB DDR3-1333 RAM DualChannel
    ATI Radeon HD5770 1GB GDDR5 PCI-E

    Second build:
    Gigabyte P55-UD2 motherboard
    Intel Core i5-760 4x2,80GHz CPU
    Kingston 4GB DDR3-1333 RAM
    Nvidia GeForce GTX460 768MB GDDR5

It will have Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on it.

I will use it for games most and to make game vid's.
I really could use your advice on what to choose.
So, please, if you could share your thought's on what you think is best and why it is

    Thanks for reading.
    Regards.
    Eth.Sin.
    Games that i have played:
    -UO-Archlord-DDO-Vanguard-MxO-Eq-Eq2-GW-WoW-CoH-CoV-RF Online-PWI-SWG-Shaiya-AoC-Neocron-WAR-Aion-
Some of them from beta & others also to they shut the game down like MxO and Archlord.

    GTX 460 vs HD 5770
    http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/...770-benchmarks

460 is far superior, however in FFXIV, another MMORPG, its almost equal.

Phenom II is alot better than i5, IF Rifts supports more than 4 cores, otherwise its about the same.

I would go for HD5770 and Phenom II, as the Phenom II has a greater future, and the grahic cards are just as good for MMORPG's, or it might be.
It might not be better, but imo you get alot more bang for your bucks.

I know that test from TH site and i looked at it so many times lol
That was also why i couldn't make up my mind, but many told me that ATI HD5770 was better because it use less power in their rig's, than what Nvidia4xx use.
I have had both AMD and Intel for game comps and AMD use to have serious heat problems back then Also why i did a lot of search on google and there isnt the same problems with their new CPU's
I really wish more would share their opinions on this.

I just got done building a new RIG over the past weekend.

    AMD Phenom X II 965 @ 3.4GHZ
    Asus Crosshair III MB
    Asus Radeon HD 5870
    4GB G-Skill memory
    Antec TPQ-1000w power supply
    Windows 7 Pro 64-bit

So far I have had no issues what so ever related to hardware. Everything is running stock clock cycles and voltages. No heat problems at all. Actually a surprisingly quiet machine.
I have been able to run everything I threw at it at MAX graphics settings and had no slow downs at all. I have tested LoTRo, DDO, Crysis Farcry. All of these have run great.
I have always been a big fan of AMD, ATI, and ASUS.
Given a choice I will always choose those over all others.

Get a ATI HD 6870 1gb or ATI HD 5870! Also if you want high quality headphones get a Sennheiser with a desktop Mic you will be glad you did.Core I7s are cheaper now too you should look into those aswell. Also what monitors are you looking at?Grab Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit too recommended =)

I'd say either of those would be fine, but I'd recommend going with a 6850 instead of a 5770 if you go AMD. HOWEVER, I'd recommend you hold off and wait for the new Intel sandy bridge chipset and go with a 6 core on that when it comes out. It's supposedly due soon. I don't know the exact date but I think it's within 6 months. I'd be a shame for you to build now and be short on power for what possibly could be the same money now. Also, there are rumors the AMD 69xx cards are coming, as well as an Nvidia GTX 580. With new graphic cards and a new socket coming from Intel just around the corner I'd highly suggest you hold off and wait for those and either get more power, or more for your money as the price drops on older parts.

You may also want to peek through my site. While the systems are a touch older since they haven't been updated since the series 6 launch, all of the bla bla on the PC page is current.

I would drop the Ph II x6 to a Ph II x4 due to the memory pipe being the same and no upfront gain on the two extra cores. The Ph II x6 will be great once the pump up the memory pipe. However th i5 is a solid chip, but price/performance the Ph II x4 965 BE is where its at.

If I had my pick I would go the AMD route better price/performance. I have always run AMD they have gotten much better when the fixed the heat to core issues.

Just recently threw my new machine together.

Case : Corsair Graphite series 600T
Power Supply : Corsair HX Series 750
    Motherboard : ASrock 890FX Deluxe3
    CPU : AMD Phenom II 3.2ghz Quad-Core (965 BE)
    Memory (16gb total) : GSkill Ripjaw 2x4gb (2 sets) DDR 1333
    Video (2 gb total) : XFX Radeon HD 5850 1gb (2 cards)
Hard Drive (2 drives in Raid 1) : Western Digital Black 1 TB sata 6 gb
CPU air cooler : Artic Cooling Freezer Pro v2
    OS : Windows 7 Pro 64 bit
