"You will deploy and manage a linux MySQL database backend in multiple datacenters for our next game."

I think MMORPG said something about this in the last video.

The name Reactor was trademarked a few months ago, no other info available

Nice find megathalios! Points the 'REACTOR' needle closer to 'New Game' status.

:Puts hands together in prayer for good choice in game engine:

I'm also curious if this time their new game will support more than just Windows. Lots of other developers have been building from the start with Mac and Linux support just for the hell of it and it's been a refreshing change to see.

    Follow up on this-

    Rift: Development start- 2006
    Release- 2011

    Defiance: Development start- 2008
    Release- 2013

    Reactor: Development start- 2015
    Release- 2020(?)

Just happened to notice there was a 5 year development period for both Rift and Defiance and thinking the trend might carry over to Reactor if this is legit.

would be cool if they just updated rift into a new engine. like the cry3 engine or something.

but that would take tremendous amount of work and money to do.

I like to see rift on working on the new api that are coming out, even on Vulkan seem be future base as can work on all the OS out there.

New engine be nice, but cry3 engine may need better hardware to run, like Unreal.

But, I'm not a software engineer so not sure how hard this will be.

    Rift - 2011
(would have had Warface or End of Nations or whatever around 2012ish)
    Defiance - 2013
    Trove - 2014
Archeage (if we count this) - 2014

If Trion wants to continue with new projects with newer tech and forward momentum, then yes we'll get a new game this year or more likely next year.

It may be a secretly large game with a lot of investment, or more likely small to mid scale.

Well, just because we're seeing the job posting now doesn't necessarily mean that Reactor is only now starting development.

New engines for existing games are few and far between. It does happen from time to time but Rift is ailing and I imagine Trion will be pushing for a new flagship game while squeezing the most they can out of Rift, if they want to survive anyway.

A friend who plays WoW told me that a lot of the players there are very set in their ways and wouldn't like any large scale changes. This may be a contributing factor as I'm sure that Blizzard would be able to rewrite the engine if the players would accept it.

wow already had graphical engine update a few years ago and have available 64bit client. Most importantly wow really has no performance issue as people getting 60+fps with their 7yr old PC even during RvR (like CQ but with even higher player cap).
