I've never heard of it... but i did just check it out. Space sims arent really my thing, but it looks promising. Although not sure if all of its funding coming from crowdsourcing is a good thing, or a bad thing...

For those interested, here is a link to what the OP was referring to

This game is going to have other aspects then a space sim. You will be able to board other ships and take them over in a FPS type of way and a lot of other promising content as-well. Also the link to the main site. forgot it in my op. https://robertsspaceindustries.com/

When people threw them $250,000 for 200 virtual spaceships, it's not surprising they raised 40 million.

Hard to believe some people whine about Rift been "P2W" and charging people when you get this, crazy world

You do realize everything recieved from backing the game in these crowd-funding efforts will be able to be obtained in-game.

Well, I for one don't support crowd sourcing. The reason why is over 80% of them never make it to general availability. Most flounder on Steam in early access for a year or more then silently are forgotten about. Lots of them promise a lot of things but statistically, the majority never deliver.

I don't know so much about star citizen even with myself being a huge Wing Commander fan. I wish them the best but color me pessimistic.

Looks interesting and I wish them the best. The idea of the game is drawing my friends and myself in. Some of the ships are just awesome.

I can understand the pessimism. I myself would not have backed the game if it weren't for Chris Roberts involvement. Star Citizen is so far the only project I've seen that I had faith in from the beginning. And if it does fail, I'm not that upset about it. I backed at a reasonable level early on and feel comfortable with having gotten my moneys worth just in the journey so far. While I agree with you that a lot of them never deliver on their promise, so do a lot of the ones that actually make it to the shelves.
