    Default Starbound. Anyone playing ?

Anyone playing Starbound ? It looks really really good and it's pretty cheap (15$) so I was thinking of buying it. What I'm worried about is playing singleplayer less fun since I really have no friends to play with. Oh and share some of your experiences in game

Love the game and I've only played single player so far.

Each planet has at least one dungeon from one of the races and you can literally take apart EVERYTHING! Buildings, Statues, Doodads, Electrical Wiring, background tiles, foreground tiles. Everything! Also love the mining - at the start it is slow because you are using your default gadget - but once you can craft pickaxes/etc, it becomes a lot faster - especially when using tools made from higher-grade ores.

There's a bit of fighting. There's tons of weapons with different effects, speeds/etc. My favorite is dual-wielding some of the crafted weapons - so OP.

The controls are intuitive although you'll probably want to read a guide on how to assign things to left and right mouse buttons (like when you are dual-wielding).

Overall thus far I'm having a blast - you can also 'save' a planet as your 'home' planet. So you can freely build your empire there; travel all across the galaxy and return whenever you feel like (with enough fuel). You can also eventually craft all sorts of things, including Guard Summons and summons for your Race where NPCs will start spawning and guard/help out in your home you've built.

Besides dungeons there's also NPC villages. And like Terraria - the deeper you go below a planet's surface, the more dangerous it becomes - rarer ores spawn, different terrain/blocks/.

Planets also have varying atmosphere's and terrain. There's a variety of planets with different flora and fauna - different terrain blocks, dungeons, NPC villages/etc. Planets also vary in Level - which determines how difficult the mobs are on them.

The Starbound devs are also working on adding other stuff like environmental effects - lightning storms, poison gas clouds/etc into the game - more mobs, more bosses/etc.

There's 'mounts' like boats and even a Mecha. There's a multitude of 'tech' skills (abilities) you can use on top of any abilities your weapons might have.

Want to add a toilet to your home? Sliding doors? Security-enabled rooms? Security Cameras? High-tech display screens? No probs! Want to make a straw hut instead with skulls-on-spikes outside and mud flooring? No prob! Want to made a pyramid with sphyinxs, statues/etc? Can do!

tl;dr - Starbound is like Terraria, except you can travel between a multitude of planets with different flora/fauna/terrain. Dungeons abound, NPC villages, summons, lots of 'tech' skills (abilities). Mecha. You can loot everything - horde away, you'll want to use a ton of chests. And duel-wield weapons possible - and you can time when each attacks with left and mouse click. Depending on how much you love these types of games - be careful - it might be 4am when you look back up at your clock. :P But of course, you see another iron ore and you HAVE to dig it up.

Here's my place currently - didn't take long to build and I'll eventually expand it to the entire planet.

I'm using the Flora-based race. There's a decent amount of customisation. The stuff you see are just some of the stuff I have looted. A ton more are in the various chests/closets both in my house and on board my ship.

Yes your own ship. Devs are adding ways to upgrade and expand your ship - currently though you can use it to travel between planets and decorate the interior. Devs are also working on space stations and a plethora of other stuff. For monsters, each monster has 'parts' that are randomly generated - in the future these various 'parts' will have their own attributes - like wall-climbing, acid-spewing/etc so the mobs will also be unique and have interesting, varied abilities.

Yep, we have a server and livestream it occasionally (twitch.tv/dizzydizaster). I think this sunday will be the next time we stream it.

I think its a really great mix of Terraria and a more progression based style of rpg. Lots of fun

Played it, its still in Alpha so features arent in yet but main progression is there (T1-T7 Gear with bosses) Everything is better with Friends but its single player is doable and they keep adding good stuff and making the experience more legit (not being able to breath in space for example) over all id say its a good buy for $15 and there are servers set up to play with people if you want (though I need to confirm they actually work)
