It's not bad, the f2p restrictions are a bit annoying.
The classes are very watered down (They're subclasses from D&D) and feel kinda eh.
There's multiple currencies, the most common (gold) is completely useless.
The player created adventures are pretty sweet.

It's not bad, but it's not for everyone.

    Obvious troll is obvious.

And this thread is completely inappropriate for the general section of the Rift forums besides.

Don't let the door hit your arse on the way out. And have fun with Cryptic and how they treat their player bases; you two deserve each other.

Don't do it. It is a major cash grab for PWE. $40 for a mount in their cash shop. Yes, there are mounts for in-game currency, but not nearly as fast as the cash shop mounts.

Is it not against rules for people to discuss competitors on the forums?

It has no depth compared to Rift. It's not bad, but you can only have 6 abilities that you can use at any time. The cash shop prices are a bit excessive. They use the D&D license, but it doesn't feel like a D&D game, even though some of the mechanics are present and there are Drows and Beholders.

forget neverwinter it is a non starter and will always be now. They allowed a game breaking bug witch was reported into the open beta from closed beta and caused a game breaking issue and refused to wipe the server even on open beta to resolve it. The game in my eyes lost its integrity then and will always be tarred for it now.

And yes i had a founder pack on the game but will not be playing it again. Also they have no customer service at all i place a ticket in 5 weeks ago and still have no reply now and i dont expect one ever.

So in a nut shell forget the game move on and dont trust cryptic with your money.

If you can look past the horrendous prices for zen, I don't think it's that bad. The environments are gorgeous, and the fighting is really fun. But that's just me.

This, pretty much. The F2P is intrusive. There are only 5 classes right now. I am personally waiting until they add a few more class, which they have promised to do soon. I quit because my cleric could not heal herself due to game balance, and healing others is active targeting, no lock-on, which is frustrating. If Rift is too complicated or slow, then Neverwinter is more actiony and requires less thinking.

    Default I dont like it

From what I`ve played game world is made of instances and very linear, I also don't like the character models. Couldn't even compare it to Rift, even tho Im new to Rift also :P

Can that game even be considered as a viable competitor to Rift?

Yes, because most people are not raiders, and rift is raid or hit the road.

You don't have to raid to have fun in Rift. I Got my Main to 50 Before Storm Legion came out and never once even tried to get into Raids and had a blast with the pvp and Running around looking for artifacts. Only reason I unsubed was money issues.
