Right now the only firm facts in these people leaving is that they left. You don't have the facts to make the leap that they are rats fleeing a sinking ship. These people are professionals, they could just want new and different experiences, perhaps better pay, we just don't know - and frankly, it's none of our business as it's their lives.

    THIS

People it is a business in a corporate environment. Here is a little snip from a study from the Bureau of Labor statistics.

The median number of years that wage and salary workers had been with their current
employer was 4.6 in January 2012, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.
This measure, referred to as employee tenure, was higher than the median tenure
    (4.4 years) in January 2010....

In January 2012, median employee tenure (the point at which half of all workers had
more tenure and half had less tenure) for men was 4.7 years, little changed from
January 2010. For women, median tenure in January 2012 was 4.6 years, up from 4.2
years in January 2010. Among men, 30 percent of wage and salary workers had 10 years
or more of tenure with their current employer; among women, the figure was 28 percent.
    (See tables 1 and 3.)
    full study here http://www.bls.gov/news.release/tenure.nr0.htm

People move on for new experiences, more responsibility (which appears to be Hanlin's case, dig the title there vs what he did here?), more pay etc. Hell Hartsman was the boss over at EQ2 and left when the game was arguably at it's peak and actually did exactly what Hanlin is doing here, moved to social media games.

People REALLY need to get their heads out of this wierd mindset where somehow working for a Gaming company is a labor of love and loyalty vs a job to pay the bills and get benefits.

Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorius triumphs, even though checkered by failure... than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.

This doesn't mean so much in itself. Guy has his life, choices to make.

Oh, I remember meeting him that he was nothing but gracious.

How so? For FY2012 they made 1.2 BILLION dollars. Their NET profits for Q4 was over 311 million. Something tells me they pay senior personnel better. I would say "congrats on the new job and pay rise."

Best of luck, Hal. You were one of my favorites. Always great sense of humor.

When you have one of the best games around that has one of the highest player satisfaction rates, you are going to become the target of other companies trying to poach your staff. Its just the way things go in business.

Having said that I have no idea why Hal left but I wish him all the best and hope Trion gets/has someone that can do as good if not better job.

    Stay Safe
