Default A Game of Thrones on HBO

HBO created a new In Production website showcasing some of the videos they aired before the True Blood season finale tonight. I for one am more excited about this show than any show I have been in ages. If HBO does it right, it has the potential to become one of the greatest TV shows ever made.

Wow, I started reading the George RR Martin stuff a while back. I didn't finish the series and will have to go back, but I really liked what I had read. As I recall, the series was a bit graphic in nature so it will be interesting to see how they approach it. I may have to get HBO for that.

Yes, I've been following this since I read the books several years ago.

I am very excited and I'm confident HBO will do it right.

I can't wait to actually own it on DVD.

Dual Targeting - The Targeting System of the Modern MMO

If the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy was made by today's MMO designers, the first 8 hours would be condensed into 30 minutes, and the last hour would be stretched out over 8.5 hours. It would be all about 'The Ending' and not about 'The Journey'.

I read a couple of the books and the series was looking pretty good. The thing that kind of spooks me is when they make a bad adaptation of a good series (ie Seeker, DnD movies, Dunegeon siege). I hope it turns out to be as good as the trailer makes it look!!

Simply can not wait for this. I have little doubt it will be good. HBO series are fantastic, even the ones I do not care for have great writing, acting and production.

    This will be epic.

Er.... I don't think I've ever noticed this book (book series?) in my country.

    What's it about?

Like most made for TV fantasy this will probably be dreadful. A shame because these books deserve the big screen. Now, if George could get around to finishing the next one before he kicks off like Jordan, it would be appreciated.

So how is this going to work?

George has not finished the series, nor does it look like he ever will.

So what is going to happen with the TV show if the books are not done?

Maybe they will have to hire Brandon Sanderson to finish it when George dies.

This book series is literally the best... ever.... If you haven't read them, read them! I've been waiting for that lazy old oaf to finish the next few books for several years now. They are so amazing though. Highly HIGHLY recommend everyone read them.

I read the first book, but did not continue. It was very well written and even interesting, but I could see the tragic trend for the characters. I like a more lighthearted feel to the books that I read. I am a sissy.

It is basically a tale of several medieval families in a struggle for power amongst themselves, but there is a greater, magical power to the north that threatens them all. Lots of blood, gore, and sex. The magic element is very low-key, but it pops up now and then.

The real attraction is the complex story line, the deeply detailed characters, and the superb writing skills of the author. I'm on my second time reading the four ~1100 page novels that are out so far.

Check the links in my previous post for more info.

A big screen adaptation is the absolute worst thing that could ever happen to the series.
