    Default The Queen's Engrish

I heard about the following project on the radio the other day as I drove to a work meeting:

    http://accent.gmu.edu/

You will need Quicktime installed to listen to the accents in the accent library but it is hilarious. I love the Scots accent... cracks me up every time.

    *EDIT*
To clarify, everyone in the accent database reads out the same passage, to wit:

"Please call Stella. Ask her to bring these things with her from the store: Six spoons of fresh snow peas, five thick slabs of blue cheese, and maybe a snack for her brother Bob. We also need a small plastic snake and a big toy frog for the kids. She can scoop these things into three red bags, and we will go meet her Wednesday at the train station."

It's simply amazing how well these few words can be used to identify regional accents.
