Rift: 50 Rogue Tank, Two 50 Cleric tanks, and a 50 Mage
To my playstyle I just don't how I have to navigate what feels like a submenu to access things like my map and items (i.e. hitting "ALT" and using a pointer) to me that kind of diminishes the immersion of the game
That being said I like Tera, good feel good combat, and while people complain about the quests I feel they are geared to the games "new" combat system. I dont feel like Im grinding when Im dodging blows and swerving around mobs XD
Still havent gotten to endgame so I dont' know how its like nor will I comment on it.
I do hope games like this and TSW carve out their own spots on the MMO map to help add new life in what I feel is an increasingly stagant game genre
The collision system is one of the features i enjoyed seeing in Tera Online. It's that nich of realism that really captivated me in Tera.
And as for combat, it's like you can feel it. You see the hit is comming, and it's up to you to decide, will i block it/dodge it or let it hit me.
Then theres a Political System. You are not some name on someones Ui anymore. You are the Lord of the Lands and everyone else is a peasant in your lands. Paying you tax for shopping in your lands.
The game have no future. It has mostly basic stuff that MMO needs, but it lack the nich to attract the casual players. And just seeing at SWTOR, players are demending alote this days.
But it is a good start. And i sincerely hope that Western developers will take notes.

this could be yours attractive nich in say Rift 2.0 perhapes? Combined with
- Dynamic Events (Rift, GW2)
- Massive PvP ( GW2 World vs World)
- Unique PvP ( SWTOR The Pit )
The future of MMO shapes out to become very interesting once you guther all the peaces.

Collission only comes into play if you can defend something e.g. hold narrowings like castle doors etc. Rift has none of these (yet). So collission right now isnt necessary.
It can be turned on with the gamebryo enginge its a simple option i think, so they could turn it on in conquest for example or test it out on the pts. but first they need to create an environment where player collission plays a role.

I made it to 60 with my warrior and 30 with a sorcerer but haven't played it in over a week now. I simply don't like the art design and races, the game also feels pretty unfinished in a few areas.
The questing in this game is, to put it kindly horrific. The quests are mind-numbing. I'd sooner quest in WoW than here. Content is not so much an issue as there being quality. You can only do the same thing over and over and over again before you vomit.... There is no imagination or excitement with them. Dull, dreary, boring and dull... "Kill this, collect that, blah, blah, blah..." There's nothing new, exciting or innovating here. I haven't seen any assassinations, mass poisonings of populations, no faction leader or world boss coming up to you asking for your help, NOTHING!!! Watching paint dry or clothes drying in a dryer provides 120% more entertainment and all the same "rinse and repeat" quests that are ubiquitous here. Plus there are no events going on in the world to sidetrack you - BORING...
Game sites that critiqued this game said that it looks great, graphics wise and the combat is impressive but other than that, a big thumbs down when it comes to questing - some of the worst they've seen yet. Even SWTOR's (TOR was used as a comparison as it uses VO's.) and WoW's questing system is, by far, 100% better - that should tell you something... WoW has many games beat on orginality concerning quests; examples include bombarding mobs from a flying mount, jousting, assassination, poisoning entire villages and actually handing quests out to NPCs. A game can't survive on pretty graphics and combat mechanics alone - you ACTUALLY have to feel immersed in the game. The quests you're doing here don't immerse you in the lore here because I haven't see it yet...
To me it's just a "cutie anime" game nothing more nothing less. And as for lore, or the lack thereof, haven't seen it in the "kill this, collect that" boring quests. I havent' seen in the open world yet anything to do with lore - just a bunch of animals and Rift looking trees walking around. Please show me where the lore is??? Show me where I'm walking that I can say, oh look, I see how that fits in with the rest of the "interesting" things roaming around here. Pretty graphics and FPS...
This was my comment on the Tera board:
Let me give you an example of how questing SHOULD be for all you newbies out there or those who seem to think that the "slash and smash," "gather this or that" or "speak to this or that" is the ONLY way to quest. Currently I am beta testing MoP (Mists of Panderia) for WoW; i.e., Blizz. Regardless of what we all think of that game or the devs involved, this exemplifies my point. In just the first half hour of questing, we were tasked with:
1) Aerially Bombing and poisoning villages
2) Collecting unstable reactor cores and blowing stuff up
3) Bungee Jumping off of cliffs
4) Collecting fallen soldiers for a burial at sea
5) And mass slaughter of the inhabitants
Now, since this game OBVIOUSLY copied off of other games (yea they all do), the VERY LEAST they could have done was to have put some creative thought into the questing process. And "this is a new game, only out for a month" doesn't cut it as an excuse. The VERY FACT that this is a new game in this day in age, IS NO EXCUSE NOT TO HAVE FUN QUESTING CONTENT. Learn/copy whatever from other games. If this is not changed or improved upon, my only words will be: Requiescat in Pace.
*Disclaimer: Rift people no offense - using WoW as an example was more advantageous to my point as I'm beta testing... I do have an annual sub to both so I play both

Just thought of something to add to my previous post. The ONLY two MMORPG's that I've ever played that I ACTUALLY feel immersed in the lore is WoW and Rift. Even though I really like EQ2, uh duh, I really don't know the lore or what's going on - it's more a grind, craft, cool world of stuff to do, great mounts and pets and explore and have your own house and guild house - at least that's how I've always seen it. But Tera, kill, grind, kill, grind - where's the beef - uh I mean lore???
