I've read the manga, but haven't seen the anime yet. I've heard it's quite awesome, though.
My current obsessions, however, are with Higurashi no Naku Koro ni and Umineko no Naku Koro ni - though as a warning, don't watch those unless you can handle bizarre mind-screws and gore. They're both quite bizarre. Not quite Serial Experiments Lain End of Evangelion or Gantz level bizarre, but close.
Yep, it's a great show. Prepare to be in for a long haul, though. Both the original and Brotherhood are quite long (50+ episodes each). Also if you watch the original anime don't forget the movie (Conqueror of Shamballa).
I used to even buy the video games based on the series.... they weren't very good, but oh well. I suppose that was just being a fan
There's also 27 volumes of manga, but well worth a read if you're so inclined.

I thought its ending was kind of silly.
yeah the ending was quite crap.. and random i have yet to watch Brotherhood fully ... YET! ive noticed its alot more fast paced which is kinda good thing

One of the best anime shows of all time
FMAB(brotherhood) is based on the manga completely so expect things to be alot different =).
