RSS Feed Broken

I am attempting to add your RSS feed to my guild website. However, it keeps giving me an error. Other site feeds work fine. Can you have someone check into it and fix line #2 ?

the Error im getting is

XML error: Invalid character at line 2

my guilds website is listed below and your feed is the last box in the center colum.

It works fine. Your side is the broken one. Try setting the correct charset to utf-8 on your parser.

The ROM RSS works fine above it.

Given the fact that you have a 2.8 megabyte image ( http://www.realmguardians.com/Themes...e/backdrop.png ) as your background, I think it's safe to say you're fairly amateur when it comes to developing websites.

thanks for the reply. And yes im not a web dev by trade just do it for fun. Still working out the template. but with todays bandwith 2.8 megs is nothing compared to speeds we get with DSL/Cable and Fiber.

It may be an issue with the Simple Portal program. Does anyone know of another free php based app i can use to pull down RSS feeds?

I learned a long time ago that people with faults like to point out others faults. That's why i kinda dropped that conversation.

Yea all I need is a little help the Simple Portal ad don for SMF does RSS but seems to have and issue and its documented all over the SP forums. They suggest getting a PHP app to display it. I have done a little searching but before i spin my wheels was wondering if anyone else has an app they can recommend.

I found that the error was due to invalid char types in the Rift feed. Base don a RSS verification website given in a thread on the SP forums shows the feed is not 100% to standards with feeds. If they remove the invald code i can get theirs working using the defult boxes on my guild page.

Do you have the ability to place either a html or php widget that allows you to place any code in it? If so I am sure there are sites that allow you to create a RSS widget which allows you to paste the code into a section of your site.

yes they give options to post raw HTML or PHP.. Ill have to search for that one its a great idea.

the recruitement and visitor boxes are examples of that kind of box.
