The first Guitar hero type game market dried up, this is the likely the best and coolest way to revive this genre. Though I do see a problem with the initial investment for newbies.

Today I learned Charlie Eppes plays professional guitar when he isn't solving crimes.

Nice, I have a custom shop Jackson that is gathering dust. Be nice to get back into playing without needing to repair my amp.

Sadly, the $80 price tag is keeping me away from it. I can understand a little more, since it comes with a cord to connect your guitar to a usb device, such as the console or pc, but $30 more than a normal game is hard to pay. Maybe they will sell just the game for $50 and I'll buy/splice my own cable for much less.

every kid who buys this has to have a real guitar too?...wow.
In my day we had to pick up the needle and put it back down on the record over and over again untol we learned the solo or song...*shakes cane angrily at sky!
I dont understand why I (or anyoe else) woudnt just pick up their guitar and play it rather than play this game?
This generation will not be producing master musicians like previous generations have, i fear. Too many distractions, no music in schools, and follow the blinking lights instead of understanding what you're playing stuff like this. even now the younger kids i see coming up cannot play well or with any depth, and they used to be cutting me...more work for me I guess.

Looks amazing. The only problem is that it this game won't appeal to as many people as Rockband or guitar hero will because it's not as basic and not as many people will be able to play it.

I'm very intrigued. I picked up guitar in college and have been playing for 8 years. Because I have no musical training and took no lessons I only have tablature and videos to help me play. I love playing but my skill hasnt improved in quite a while. This game may be the kick in the *** I need to take the next step in my playing

I hope so. However I firmly believe you have to actually WANT to play guitar to become better at it. Hope that makes sense? In the same way you can force your kid to practice piano or whatever, but he will only ever be good if he WANTS to and enjoys playing.
