I played it on my wife's compaq.

Lowest res, all minimum settings.. five frames per second.

But thanks to newegg my desktop is built again No more of that crap.

I've been playing on my 2010 MacBook pro with the i7. It's a bit choppy on high, but plays medium pretty well. Turning off the invasion ground effects boost performance drastically and you can squeeze in a little more graphics.

I played on a compaq. Forgot the res settings but it was the default. I believe I played on minimum and I had average, 20 FPS. So let me give you a quick reassurance, your laptop is better then mine by a long shot, and if I run it on min with 20 FPS, then you can look for medium to a tad higher of settings with good FPS.

played on my 2 year old Acer laptop, dual core 2.2 GHz and GeForce 9600M videocard. It was pretty bad, I had manual options comparable to the low settings, and had 5-10 FPS. Turning off the "shadows" effect (it was the only effect I wanted to keep on, to let the game still have some of its beauty) would give me 10-15 FPS if I remember right.

I recently looked up my CPU and GPU in some charts (for example http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html), and they scored really bad, so I think if I really want to keep playing new games, I'll have to spend some decent money on a new laptop.

My Acer is doing great with all the vidio settings maxed out.

well it looks now like I am actually going to end up on a new sandybridge based laptop by release. i7-2720, 4-8 GB Ram, GTX460M. So we'll see how that works out. I haven't quite sold the G73 yet, but I am close I think and I haven't zeroed in on exactly which sager I am going to get.

I'm playing it on a laptop with everything maxed....plays extremely smooth.

    Intel Core i7 920XM 2.0GHz
    8 GB RAM
CrossfireX 1GB GDDR5 ATI Radeon Mobility HD 5870

I'm sure your ASUS would have been just fine for the game. And your new laptop should *definitely* be more than enough, with *those* specs.
