*confused* Why are you chosing to build on a now outdated socket that's about to hit end of life? Unless you are getting serious money savings on that I'd highly recommend against that. A terra is nice, but you'd be far better served in gaming with something like a 120 gig SSD.

You may want to peep my system build page.

it will probably catch on fire the very first time you play Rift at release.

Go with a WD VelociRaptor its faster. Like I tell everyone your computer is only as good as its weakest link.

Your build will work just fine. Just use the ATI drivers Trion/Rift recomends.
    Enjoy the new machine.

I'd get two 6850's or 6870's instead of the 6970. You'll get more performance out of it.

If you really want to get a 6970 though, get a 6950 instead and flash it to a 6970.

I find that a number of games out there don't like ATI. I think ATI makes fine cards, but nvidia seems to sleep with more game developers.

i have a 470GTX graphics card... otherwise our systems are very similar. same cpu, same amount & speed of ram, I have the same HD (i think, is that the sata-3(6gb) version?), i have the asus p6x58D-E mobo (not sure which x58 you meant). I'm assuming you're going tri-channel ram too, like me.

it will be overkill for Rift, trust me, I have yet to see a game which can slow my frame rates on max settings, even with a big display
