Lightbulb What is your DREAM MMO Career

If you were offered an opportunity to have any career you wanted from your favorite developing company, what would you choose?

For me, it would be a double responsibility with room for growth. I would want to be a class designer because classes and combat are the most important aspects to me when it comes to choosing a new game, and therefore I have a lot of ideas on what classes should be that I would love to put into my own game. I would also want to be the dev on stage at cons presenting my company's game/s. Eventually, after gaining more experience, I would want to become the lead designer because I have been cooking up a game in my head for years that I would love to see come to fruition.

Writing storylines, lore and events that people would actually read and get into. You did say "dream"!

Hmm, i'd defo go for the o so great quest writer. But not just any quests, quests that make it possible for you to enter specific raids, this would of course mean close work with the designers to make the quests and mobs / surroundings match fully.

Is there a position as the company "Social Worker" or "Organisational Therapist"? To assist employees with all the MMO development stress??

I would love to be a Community Manager or a Concept Designer. I have always wanted to be part of the MMO gaming industry.

Community Manager: I would want to do this job because I can talk about MMO's with people and all day long and it doesn't get old to me. I have caught myself talking about scenarios and theory crafting for hours on end with other gamers. Why not get paid for it?

Concept Designer: I would also like to do this just because I have been part oft he MMO industry for 20+ years. I have seen what works and what doesn't as far as MMO's go. I think it would be awesome to have some input on a new concepts and being able to run with it.

Well being a game design student right now I have a pretty good idea of what I would like to do eventually. I'm thinking something like Class Design, Quest Design or Item Design. I like all 3 aspects and think they are all very important. I would be happy just to get my foot in the door. From there I will get to do what I want some day.
