Hope he has medics handy and is ready to spend some time in the hospital afterwards.

My sis ran a double marathon, 52 miles in one day a few years back. Her squad ran the last 10 miles counting cadence with her....
she had to spend a week in infirmary for severe exhaustion and dehydration.

    Default Marathon monks

Have you heard about those Japanese monks that run a "10 year" marathon? Its crazy.

It's not 10 years startight but on the 10th year they run 52 miles everyday for 100 days.

    Wiki link to these guys

    WoW

In the first 100 days, withdrawal from the challenge is possible, but from day 101 - 1000 the Monk is no longer allowed to withdraw, he must either complete the course or take his own life.

    Year 1
30 (40) km per day for 100 days.
    Year 2
30 (40) km per day for 100 days.
    Year 3
30 (40) km per day for 100 days.
    Year 4
30 (40) km per day for 200 days.
    Year 5
30 (40) km per day for 200 days.
    Year 6
60 km per day for 100 days.
    Year 7
84 km per day for 100 days, followed by 30 (40) km per day for 100 days.

During the fifth year of the challenge, the running is punctuated by what many consider the most daunting phase of the process. The trainee Monk must go for 9 days (216 hours) without food, water, or rest of any kind. He sits in the Temple and prays constantly. Two monks accompany him, one on either side, to ensure he does not fall asleep. At 2am every night he must get up to fetch sacrificial water from the well, around 200m away
