Default Help! I can't think of this game!

I have been trying to think of the name of this game for a long time now and it's driving me crazy.

The game featured a main character who summoned squads/teams of demons(or something) to fight for him. These squads included swordsman, archers, suicide bombs, bruisers, etc. and could be upgraded with experience throughout the game to increase their strength and numbers. The character you controlled could also do some fighting but relied mainly on these demons.

In the first level of the game you have an incredibly powerful demon to summon but then you lose him and start over with just the swordsmen squad.

I remember you can collect red orbs for experience used to upgrade the squads, which were gained by fighting enemies and finding them in chests.

If anyone knows what this game is, please help me, I must remember what it is!

    Overlord?

It's the only thing that comes to mind for me.

No it's much, much older than that, it was a very long time ago when I played it, and it's for ps2.

Heroes of Might and Magic or Master of Magic maybe, both are very old in their history and scope.

Also a game from a long time ago is Warlords. All apart from Master of Magic spawned sequals.

Oh my word... PS2 was a "very long time ago"... where has the time gone

The was a mod for Age of Empires which was similar to what you mention... but that's not PS2.

I remember playing the game around 2001-2003, and in this day and age 8-10 years is a pretty long time, especially in comparison to when Overlord came out.

masters of magic was a great game . however while that does sound like it a lot . i`m not sure as if i remember you did have armies etc.

but you also build cities , and and stuff , dob`t remember any red orbs either but that was like 15 + years ago hehe .

Never mind just noticed he said was on ps2 aswell that leaves out masters of magic .

    Sounds like this one

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Summoner_(video_game)

Aptly named "Summoner" because you Summon demons.

There is also a Summoner 2.
