Default Finally we know Why wow has 11.4 m subscribers.

I have always wondered why on earth WoW is so big in china.
Not sure if everybody knows, but the majority of the WoW playerbase comes from Asia (esp china).
Europe and America dont come close to the chinese playerbase.

So, how did wow manage to get so many subscribers over there?

They dont want to, they are forced!

Playing a game in a prison, whats the harm in that?
They would rather do anything else then play WoW.

    do u understand english?
and did you read all the news or just the title?
Because (if it's true) it speak about forcing people to farm gold and not to play a game (so it means mining and gathering not doing dungeon all the day)...

What does that have to do with anything? A subscription is a subscription, Blizzard doesn't (and can't) filter out gold farmer accounts.

You word your post as if it's wow forcing prisoners to play.

If you have issues with the chinese correctional facilities and how they're run then fine, but making it into a "this is why wow is so popular" post is just pathetic. If you really think those prisoners are being mistreated then don't you think you're complaining about the wrong thing?

The Wow hate on this forum is really sad. If you don't like a game then don't play it.

So would it be safe to say.. that Blizzard has little "motivation" to actually shut down the Chinese gold farmers, hacks and whatnots? Really? Do you think Blizzard is going to bite the HAND that feeds them? Blizzard shuts down the GOVT RUN correctional gold business and the govt then in turn STRIPS Blizzard of their gaming rights in China.. IMO, they both are in bed together.. >> $$$$$$$

Bravo OP, successful troll is successful.

Interesting read. Thanks for the link, OP.

I imagine many people already suspect that a large number of WoW subscriptions are by gold farmers. I just assumed that they were "businesses" paying peanuts to people to farm it. Never occurred to me that inmates would be used as slave labor in a virtual world like that.

Of course who knows how many prisons are doing it over there and how many subscriptions it amounts to.

Also, think about how many acounts the gold sellers have as backup considering how often they get banned. I would wager at least a quarter of the 11 million subs are those.
