    Default MMO Nostalgia

We all have fond memories of games we used to play that either changed so much we just couldn't enjoy them anymore, or they went away for a myriad of reasons, or even, just never got around to logging back in and realized this, so canceled the account.

    What are some of yours.

I made this here as I was inspired by this thread: http://forums.riftgame.com/showthrea...-EQ-enchanters...

I grew up with EVE Online since my dad was addicted to it when I was around 11-12 at release and onwards for a few years. Despite having gone through some rage moments due to this (blah blah uncared for blah blah) it was awesome playing it myself now that I'm older. Definitely resubbing when Incarna is released, not sure if I'll stay, but it's such an atmospheric game and the community is pretty sweet, too.

I miss the good times I used to have with FFXI way back in 2003-2004. Especially, I miss playing with my rl friends and all our ridiculous escapades.

I also have very fond memories of vanilla wow, before the honor system, before battlegrounds, when people would world pvp just because it was fun. Hillsbrad wars, rooftop camping in darkshire or gadgetzan , and epic blackrock mountain raid vs raid zergs

I played on Iron Forge, and that's where the 'Online Comic Wars' took place. It was Penny Arcade Vs PVP Online and CTRL+ALT+DEL online Comics. I was in Rapscallions before Tim Buckley lost his mind and went on a holy power mad tirade against the guild.

BUT! We had some epic Tauren Mill/Southshore battles, including, having so many people show up to fight once, we crashed the server!! Penny Arcade sent a email in asking: We dropped the server, what's the loot? Their reply: Angry Admins!

    LMAO!

    Great times!

I too miss vanilla WoW, and even BC, more for the attitude of the players than anything.

I miss 8 hour AV's, when you would actually summon Ivus, and then he would be bugged. And running ubrs/lbrs for hours, exploring things because once you jumped you were in a totally different area, but that was okay. Nobody whined because something was taking too long.

I miss AQ, ZG, MC...I think ZG was my favorite raid ever. And it actually took strategy and work, unlike...well...basically everything in WotLK, where if you wiped once in a pug raid you had people leaving. The game is now full of spoiled, impatient brats that just want gear that all looks the same.

AND I actually had friends on my server then. Once cross server crap started, I barely knew anybody on my server, with the exception of my guild.

I cancelled my account about 2 months ago, and don't miss the game one bit.

I called them 'Toilet Paper Raiders': Good for one or two wipes.

Ahh... Mine was FFXI. My first day I got lost in San d'oria and didn't know where to exit.

MPKing gilsellers, endgame LS drama, crappy Ballista, and just wiping in the Dunes all day long.

There was no "this quest leads you to this area" just "oh crap! Where do I go to level!?"

And the music. Absolutely the best.

You mean Dark Iron. I was on that server before I transferred to Lightninghoof. Had an alt in <Exuberance>.

Yes, Dark Iron. Multitasking and posting is not my friend. Good catch!

Had some good times on Dark Iron with my pals farming UBRS and doing MC with <Fashion Club>.

Anyway, my fondest MMO memories would be: SWG (Pre-CURB/NGE) with the PACE folks on the Chilastra server. I miss all the big MSN chats we all had while I was bored at work. Also, the CoH Justice server and its forums were the best.

    Ultima Online.
The start of it, before all the merchant tents and major shard changes.

I used to provide buying and selling services to the large groups of "PKers" that lived in the mountains and hills near some of the dungeons.

They would give me huge amounts of armor and weapons from their fallen victims, to be sold in town.
I would keep about half of the cash and return with spell reagents for them.

It ended up being very profitable for me.

Yes, Ultima Online. Pre-Trammel days. Had a Keep with vendors for everything. Still, to this day I believe that if UO came out with a new updated version to today's standards (but with original UO mechanics) they would dethrone WoW as top MMO.

Nox Mage then was nasty ... even if it took a year to get poisoning to 100 skill.

UO is still the best MMORPG I have ever played.

Vanguard. It was in it's prime just after they released the first raid zone. After that, things just went down a very steep hill.

Loved that game to death. Unfortunately, it died for me years ago.
