Default RiftBusters: Are Koreans Better Gamers?

There is an oft referenced myth about Koreans and gamers from Asia being just generally better at all games.

So it's your turn to help us bust this myth, are Koreans just better gamers?

No because i'm ranked number 1 on the World of Warcraft leaderboards. That means I am better than everybody, including Koreans.

Yes. =p And I am being horribly biased.

Are we talking inherently better, overall better or what?

    Yeah, that piece is canon.

Both, whatever your perception may be.

Average is better, that's for sure. High ranks though are always roughly the same everywhere.
It is an ironic habit of human beings to run faster when we have lost our way.

It's directly related to how serious the game is taken. They are not inherently better.

There is a Canadian SC2 player named HuK who consistently does 400, I don't remember if he was THE fastest in the world but he is in the top 3.

    It's not a myth.

A stereotype, maybe, but not a myth.

Huk has been ranked #1 in the Blizzard top 200 charts for North America, and #1 in the world Source
Yeh, hes on the top, but on the average skill level Koreans dominates I believe.

Ah, thanks for the confirmation. Yes, on average skill level Koreans are definetly far ahead I believe. I am not sure what the exact reason is, but I'd like to say that it has something to do with the difference in education systems.

Here in the U.S., the government would rather give the fire department a new truck and cut music and extracirricular courses.

    From what I've heard:
Koreans got over 10 TV channels that is all about gaming 24/7, i think they learn quite a bit form there. Also if you are a pro gamer in Korea means literally the same thing as being a superstar in the US.

In short, Korea is a gamer country :]

    Well yes, that's true.

I guess I was trying to divert this into a debate about the education system.

I think social environment has more to do with it.
