The program we use for checking is called H2Testw , version is 1.4
In checking mode, it writes random data to the stick, filling it up with 1GB files, then tries to read them back again.
Also note the abysmal write and read speeds, some people get less than 1mb/sec as a read speed and rarely more than 3,5mb in write speeds - which is odd in itself, since reading speeds should be higher than write...
Some sticks also have loose connectors which get pushed back into the casing, thereby making it impossible to connect the stick to an usb slot.
I urge everyone who has an USB stick to test it and collect the results, maybe in a separate thread.
Also, could someone who has an US CE please check his stick with this tool, too? So we may know the difference between the two models - if there is any.
Please Trion, get the facts out there to your support personnel! They don't know what to do with this, some say to wait for a return shipping box from Trion, some just send out a new stick (with the same defects!), this is a real mess right now.
The sticks from my and my gf's CE are also slow and defective (i.e. no 8GB), atleast the connectors seem to be sturdier than most.
Please resolve this issue. It's a shame really, the cheapest USB sticks I can get from the nearest local electronics store are faster and you can use them up to their advertised capacity. (and they cost far less than 15 Euros for 8GB, too - without mass purchase rebate)
