The fact that Archeage and Trove have had content updates and Twitch broadcasts makes it readily evident to me at least, that Rift is not a priority going forward.
I was the one who posted in Defiance in order to find out where our CM is at which I updated in my post for those who don't already follow it. Also in my signature: http://forums.riftgame.com/general-d...ml#post5366919

Fasti was the temporary CM, but the people left over at Trion are spread pretty thin as it is so I don't see them having much time to do it which is why it was/is so important that we get our own dedicated CM to communicate through the team and through Gamigo, but I don't know if they have one picked already and just haven't announced it (regardless of the reason) or if they just don't have one yet to announce. Based on the other CM posts from all of the other games, it sounds like they're letting them pick which game they'd like to play/CM.

Nice summary post and thanks for amalgamating that information from the various scattered sources - I had individually read over some of the items such as Gamertoken and had also seen the post on the Defiance boards.

Whether or not they've decided on a dedicated CM, or if that person still needs to be hired, I just think that complete silence is the wrong way to handle the aftermath of an acquisition, and that even a short end-of-week message from a temporary CM would go a long way in assuring the community that "something" is being done.

Maybe Gamigo is planning to throw it out entirely and fit in a new engine...

Welp, I guess I'll have to hold back and see. *hangs onto hat*
    this!

this game needs an engine and coding overhaul. I wonder if that does happen, will it take the game forward into glory OR simplify it into a piece of browser crap.

this is the absolute bottom line for me. I have an account that has been solid subscriber/patron since 2011, I have never suspended or interrupted my support of the game. if the engine/gameplay and graphics go to hel in a handbasket, then for the first time, I will cancel my patron subscription.

of course, that wouldn't make me very happy.

Well this didn't seem to last long.

Question: Is anyone going to look after the more technical forums like Macro's and Addon development.

If a user goes to the forums for help about dimensions, or spell casting, they frequently get redirected to either use macros, or install addons - but without ongoing support for addon (or macro) developers this is an untenable solution.

everything needs to be updated and rebirthed for being maintained. there's hardly any up-to-date information. let alone anything useful in terms of classes/macros/hints/tips etc.

heck even the old communities on other sites have just frozen over. still sad because this was my go to game whenever i couldn't get onto other games. now i've got none.(because most have either been sold off/closed down/.... or are in worse shape than rift.

hello and welcome! if you take one thing away from ALL this brouhaha, it should be that there is a dedicated core of players who have been with this game from day one. if you work to make them comfortable and satisfied in the game, they WILL spread the good word, and, based on the strong personalities on display here, they are more than capable of doing their part to strengthen Rift.

I'm not much of a forum participant, but I do rely strongly on the written word when I'm working on my characters' builds and gameplay. the forums are a bastion of stable, copiable, reviewable info. the forums should never be blown off as excess or negligible.

I've been here since day one as a subscribing player, even when I hare off to other games, the Rift sub stays active. I believe that the main issue with Rift's decline was devs and engineers who were always looking for the easy way to accomplish something which led to coding errors (especially after the switch to 64 bit) and content recycling. these errors still exist to this very day. I think that the end game content was just old content dressed up and elaborated to look new. I know that is a fact of life for every mature game in the world: how to really do end game, right?, but I believe that, even if the players squabble and growl, a well-run, thoughtful game set-up (please don't hate me here) will put the forum issues into their proper perspective: just another fascinating part of the whole picture.

let us play in a game that is well-run and put-together, with curated forums, and thoughtfully developed (not grindXinfinity), and folks can argue til the cows come home, turn out the lights, and go to bed, and we'll all be happy. let us know you hear us; manage the squabbles without getting involved (where the prior devs stumbled, I think), and keep us as informed as possible. be present with us. we love the game. I'm not going anywhere yet; I doubt the people you're hearing on the forums from are going far either.

they're a really good fan base compared to a lot of games out there.
