Because 2.3x global XP required to level increase is not, exactly, a "Scalpel" approach, while simultaneously removing any activity that allows the average player to get to end game before the next expansion is released?
They actually never intended to do that many changes to the exp in the first place. Their internal playtesting was fine in regard to how fast, easy or hard it was to level and even the devs have varying playstyles in the activities they do in order to level. Some slower, some faster. Add in 4500 people doing it at the same time with variables like mob, npc and quest objective respawns and that also affects how people will level. Everyone has varying opinions on the matter of exp so they have to give their best guess on what people actually want so it's hard to please everyone. Hence why they're doing small changes week to week rather than big ones.

I truly find that hard to believe. that 4500 people and the devs tested this long enough to realize its in its best shape and will appeal to the most people.

But regardless of the testing and the like, they advertised Prime as if it going to be close to pre-expansion Rift...they didnt have to outright say it, but I think they should have made mention to the fact that it won't be anything like the pre-expansion launch. That would have made up ALOT of peoples' minds immediately.

None of that though. And the few apologists left are far outnumbered by those people that feel they got cheated out of their money. Some paid 60 dollars to play vanilla rift again...they found a bag of #$%^ instead.

Clerics should not be generalized as a healing class. If they were they would be the best not the worse healers in the game. This sort of classism needs to be gone for good. Who are the healers in Rift? Every class. Tactician, Warden, Physician, Sentinel, Liberator, Warchanter, Chloromancer, Frostkeeper, Far Seer, Preserver, Purifier. Clerics are solid tanks and that is about it. Shaman isn't too bad for PvE dps. Other than that they have niche souls and act as a good cleanse bot although rogue throughput healing is higher and they can probably be a better cleanse bot.

Currently on live Primalist is the best healers for PvP, followed by warrior and rogue, then FK from mages then sent cleric heals. In AoE healing all the other healers from other classes have the better throughput healing while wardens healers get buried as overhealing(wasted healing.) Puri is decent in PvE but not as good as the other ST healers. I don't know what leader boards or data they are gathering intel from but it's definitely wrong.
Take a look at the current raid content. Does it blow your mind that rogue hybrids can compete with full blown wardens? Or that warchanter can excel as a competitive damage dealer as a healer? https://prancingturtle.com/

As for DPS and killing potential in PvP: That relies mostly on uptime and frequency of burst blocks. Cleric has the 1 min and incredibly long 2 min burst blocks. Souls like bladedancer can have full uptime of its burst, and some burst blocks come in every 30 secs. from primalist. In terms of damage dealing in pvp, you have rogue, warrior and primalist as the most manageable and most frequency of burst which translates to more killing power as should be seen by leaderboards.

Here is a simple example. A match last 2 mins. A cleric can have 1 or 2 chances to burst in that time frame. A rogue can have 10x+ as much chance playing BD, a primalist or warrior can have 2x to 4x as much. You will have people telling you this is just not true..but the math and logic is this simple. I won't even go into the time to deliver your maximum burst through setup which is also something clerics suffer from or the benefits of 1 sec vs 1.5 sec gcd.

You can do well with cleric as a healer and dps.. it is just much easier for other classes. They will have better playing experience over a longer period of time in PvP.

(I can understand why the devs want players who gravitate to the cleric calling to play cleric. It is because the cleric community has always been the strongest support for the Rift community because of tanking and healing. They stay through the harsh times as well and they were the last class to always get looked at for balancing. The name cleric implies priest which implies faithful/healer. They know the other classes like rogue will have bigger outcry.)

Take all I say as a grain of salt as balance can change at any time. For instance, they just nerfed rogue sab stun, and BD from not being able to be purged. yet they didn't fix the other problems with it. Satchel charge keeping you in combat and broken pull. Considering it took less than 1 month for them to fix water jet after it was reported and now going on 1.5 years for these abilities. It was never this slow. 1-2 years for some fixes? The rollercoaster balancing has turned into watching paint dry for live players and some classes.

Playing a rogue or warrior is sort of a safe bet because devs mostly play rogue or warrior and those two classes get the most attention from the developers. Also, most the whales left play rogue so you can be safe in that class for now.

That's certainly why i don't found Rift livestream last friday...
