    You barely touch pvp and even when someone looking at it and try to do something, somehow it became worse than it was before and our suggestions are ignored.

    Open world pvp sounds fun tho, just be sure you will make pvp gear best for it.

    Just no, please no.
    You already have a system in place that offers player choice in this matter, removing choice is never a good thing. I also dont wish to play a game where I dont feel any progression in my character, having to wade through lvl 10 mobs again going from A>B will only serve to infuriate.

    Splitting the playerbase, you sure about this one?

    I'll edit & update as ive read more but auto scaling is just so rotten for me I had to at least vent it.

    Default Thoughts on producer letter

    Read the producer letter and this is what stood out to me:

    1) No new raids this year. Zero new 10 man content and since 20s are gone that is out as well. Based on what Brasse said - intrepid TODQ? Am I missing something? This will pretty much be it for raiding in Rift.

    2) PVP = a new warfront. Fun nice, but not really all that much given that it has been neglected for so long. Not sure that will fix much and most of the PVPers are years gone now. As someone said in the other thread, there needs to be balance issues addressed before anything in PVP matters.

    The stuff about the PVP servers just seems really weird. We had tons of PVP servers and they were really really vibrant for a good while, UNTIL Trion made it so factions didnt matter and guardians and defiants could be in the same guild on PVE servers. I was on Seastone at the time and everyone left that did PVE raiding. All those great guilds had been wittled down to SIn Filled Afterlife, Blackout, Realm Guardians and a few others. They all left just like that, except for us. Not sure how it is revolutionary technology to open new content or make old content worthwhile to do and flag the zone PVP. I seem to remember doing that in WoW in...2004 Stranglethorn Vale was tons of fun!

    3) Prime Servers? I already pay for patron - would this be open to patrons? It is really strange to see a game advertising that we will create a special server for you so you can go back and play this game like it was before P2W, gambling that would embarrass casinos, and other crap was all implemented. It strikes me out population is so low that even a loss of a small amount of current rift players would hurt the existing game. Given the lack of people working on class balance and skills etc, how could this even function without further diminishing work on the existing Rift game. It just feels kind of too late and ignoring the path dependent nature of choices the team and company have made in recent years.

    To me, the lack of any new raid content this year really sucks. Going back to TOTDQ again and nothing new on the horizon in 2019 just sounds really lame. The idea that a game that has moved on from 20 man raiding despite whats its players thought will be going back and re-releasing all their 20 man content for people who pay a premium seems even weaker. If there isn't enough people in Rift to support 20 man raiding now how can it work on this server?

    I wish the game well and have no real animus for the people running it, but it just feels kind of same old same old here - lots of spin, lots of we care but results that dont really show that in anyway that Rift is a 4 A MMO.

    So in order to raid on live servers you need to buy access to the PRIME server to relevel a character from lvl 1? I assume the weekly and monthly rewards Will be raid gear etc. As I reckon not many people would relevel a character for cosmetics and dimensional stuffs.

    Seems like an addional grind. If the new server could reward raid gear on your main whereas on your live server all you have is intel grinding (I would assume Most raiders are at least on the IRotP stage by now which is on aweeekly lock) I would assume that the live servers Will be rather empty..

    If you can get BiS gear from playing PRIME I guess that you eventually either have to raid on PRIME as well as or your Main char gets BiS gear from your PRIME guy running sub T1 content. Both sounds grindy and not that appealing at a first glance.

    In regards to the new server with the subscription model:
    I'm not willing to pay for a patron subscription to the existing game and a separate subscription to the "Prime" game. Including this in a patron subscription, or creating a new "Prime Patron" one-payment-covers-both option, I would highly encourage. Otherwise what I foresee is people who want challenge will simply abandon the normal servers wholesale and pay for the challenge, or ignore the challenge and simply play the normal game, thereby fragmenting an already rather small playerbase... which probably won't bode well for progressing on either side. While I cheer for the idea of a scaled down store with a subscription, I would certainly abandon patron status (and probably a lot if not all of my gameplay) on the main servers to play on the challenge servers instead.

    Also, I question the participation awards carrying over, especially in light of the fact that you would have to pay a subscription for the Prime servers. Are these participation awards going to correlate to actual gameplay enhancement, or simply fluff items like special wardrobe, dimensions, titles, mounts? I would absolutely hate to see participation awards come in the form of buffs or armor or weapons or potions/vials that could make challenge players overpowered compared to non-challenge players on the main servers.

    In regards to what is missing from this update:
    Where is the discussion of what players are currently having issues with? I realise that you addressed the lack of PVP attention, but PVErs are not exactly happy with the way things stand, either. Nothing mentioned to address the issues with far too much RNG in regards to gear upgrading and acquiring, nothing mentioned to address the ever-growing problem with the eternal weapon quest grind in terms of new players vs. people who have been here a year. Is this something that Trion feels is unimportant? Does Trion believe that those of us at the "upper tier" (i.e., raiding competitively and thus doing our best to get the best gear and stats we can) should just relax and wait for the challenge servers?

    I understand this letter is really broad and not meant to go into detail, but a sentence or two acknowledging "current challenges" such as those I mentioned and that are brought up all the time in lots of threads on this forum would have been appreciated. Instead, the non-acknowledgement is... well, telling.

    I await more details, but I'm less intrigued than disappointed by this update.

    I personally do not want to relvl and recollect everything I have done for 7 years. Hope others enjoy. If I am understanding the way I think prime servers will be I can see the current servers going to the trash can. Love you Rift. Goes back to building.

    ...and it feels really bad to read about upcoming changes in a way they are amazing and fun and original while they're exactly nothing but a recycling of what went live years and years ago. This is the trend in Rift's development - recycling, re-skinning, revamping is the main "content" being added to the game. This mindset is so caved in by now that suggesting even a minor xpack made up of entirely new content and features will sound absurd and undoable on several levels.

    New warfront looks nice but... a whole year dedicated to it, and no PvE content because of that?

    I'm sorry... this "letter" killed off any dim hopes I had for any exciting novelty or rework in Rift in 2018.

    I am a bit hesitant to comment so early .. after all this was just unveiled and we don't have all the details yet .. but I have concerns about a separate Rift Prime server.

    I disagree with separating the playerbase with a paywall.

    I understand that business models need to adapt to changing markets and trends, and I also understand that Trion needs to think of fresh ways of continuing to generate revenue for content development and to support the live ops team.

    My first (knee-jerk) reaction is that dividing the playerbase will make matchmaking queues longer, worlds emptier.. it will have a negative effect on the player in-game community experience.

    Maybe there's hope. I quite enjoy this game (been around since launch). I look forward to hearing more details regarding this change.

    Great! Can't wait to see more PvE! That's why I like this game. Emphasis on PvE.
    Now if we could just evolve to flying mounts....a dream I keep hoping to come true.
    Rift Prime aye? That Prime gets around (snicker-snort). Wonder what the cost will be for that!

    Hey all!

    Aye, we have a LOT of detail and information to fill in, over time. It's not going to happen tomorrow - we wanted to get the spare, pale outline of the year out as early as possible precisely so that we could start gathering reaction, feedback, concerns and requests well in advance of the heavy production stage.

    I am here not to answer questions - not yet. I am here to collect your opinions and feedback, to take them to the team as they begin to fill out the framework. We WILL address everyone's points and questions over time, when we have useful info.

    One thing we can talk about is that we do not expect RIFT Prime to draw away all currently active players. In fact, the audience we are looking at are the lapsed players who want to go back to the days of the subscription model and Chocolate RIFT (never vanilla).

    Based on our experience with the ArcheAge Fresh Start servers, the large majority of RIFT Prime players will be former players. A minority of people will play both services, or convert from one to the other. This is not guesswork, this is based on what we KNOW from AA and other games that many of us have worked on.

    The initial investment of time and resources is significant, but the entire team is very excited about it. Once the new service is up and running, all content will be developed for both, at the same time. More revenue = more content.

    We have heard a rising tide of feedback from people who want a return to the subscription model, where everything is included in the price of admission. We are answering it with the RIFT Prime endeavor. Players will finally be able to choose for themselves between the subscription and F2P models.

    Now, let's keep on with the questions so that I can fill my tome with your thoughts!
    Nothing is written in stone in an MMOG, especially early in development.

    In PvP or PVE? The first place to start is look at the underperforming specs and bring them into the light of what needs to be done for them to be competitive also the game seems to be really reliant on having 61 point souls example tank souls require 61 points to survive legendary hits. Class balance is never an easy fix sometimes u can overcompensate with buffing and nerfing and the players will figure out the inherent flaws for your dev team to correct. Just have to stay on top of it.

    Seems communities main purpose on rejection of challenge servers is disregarded and no matter what they want to split current population.

    I honestly don't think most of veterans who raided hardcorely on chocolate rift would come back to do same boss kills again.

    This is prime example of how to not manage game for over years and yes we found the issue and going back to original state of game.
    RemoveBuff a simple addon for replacing cancelbuff command.
