Default green items - vendor, or are there ways to salvage or use in crafting?

So I've got some green and blue items, but not sure whether I should just vendor them, or if they are useful in some crafting. Is salvaging still available? How is this done?

    Thanks,
    Mal

However, the items can be used to level Runecrafting, as that requires you to break them down into RC components.

Well I guess I meant a more generic version of salvaging that anyone could do regardless of crafting professions.
So what crafting profession works best with Runecrafting?
Is it worth it? I figure I should do something more than vendor them.

    Thanks,
    Mal

Armorsmith, Artificer, Outfitter and Weaponsmith. Runebreak crafted gear for mats. Questgear and random drops work too.
