Default Differences between account types vs. lifetimes?

OK, hopefully the forum can help settle this discussion our guild is having.

We have some members who have previously owned the game (let's call them Old Accounts), and we also have some members who created accounts after Rift went free-to-play (let's call them New Accounts).

So what benefits would a New Account have that an Old Account would not have, in each of these scenarios:

    1) The Old account went out and bought a boxed copy of Rift
    2) Neither the New nor Old accounts became subscribers... we all stayed free.
    3) Both the New and Old accounts became Patron subscribers

    Thanks.

    1. Unless the old account bought a copy of storm legion and had not previously owned it, they wasted their money. The basic Rift game has not changed in what is available. The old account should give the game code to a new player.

    2. The old account is considered a previous patron and thus the extra role slots (up to 6) are unlocked as well as 2 additional inventory bag slots. There will also be some patron bonuses available due to loyalty earned. If the new accounts have gained no loyalty at all, then they are also limited in access to selling on the auction house and maybe a cap on ingame currencies.

    3. Both will be on the same level, except for additional loyalty earned by the old accounts - unless the old account was a storm legion account. Then it would have access to the 4 storm legion souls (one per calling).

Thanks for the thorough responses! I did make a typo on scenario #1.... I meant to say:

    1) The *NEW* account went out and bought a boxed copy of Rift (not old one)

But based on what you wrote, I'd say that the answer to this question above would be that if the new account goes out and buys the boxed game, they would essentially be a "previous patron" and unlock the extra bag and toon slots, and nothing more, though that's still very much worth it.

    Thanks!!

Yep, exactly right. The only differences at that point would be the additional loyalty earned by the old accounts.
