    Default Gambling in Rift

Like making plat bets and rolling a dice, is this against the user agreement?

Something about encouraging negative gambling habits is probably in there somewhere.

Though they did have it in a world event some time ago, but it was taken off several times due to bugs. Gw2 also attempted to implement it, but found that people figured out how to beat the mechanic for maximum profit. It's not something I overly much desire to see as a permanent little feature in the game.

I've never seen one that didn't get cracked by someone very early on.

Inevitably, they all seem to end in someone exploiting them for a big sack of cash and then they get disabled to prevent it from happening any more.
This game could be great if it wasn't for so many players believing that "all classes can fill multiple roles" means "your class should be best at every role."

Unless you're talking about the people who just do it in chat, in which case I don't know if it's an EULA violation, but it's irritating as hell.

    Yes. http://trionworlds.com/en/legal/terms-of-use/

oh boy this brings back memories. Sitting in Jueno /s casino 10kgil bets! ffxi use to be awesome.

Ive done this back in the day and this is not against the ToS as i had a very intact conversation with a gm about it.

How to make the casino legit.

    /roll 100

    min bet 10p
if you roll 60-80 you get your money back, 81-90 double your bet. 91-99 triple your bet.

This is legit because the participant agrees to the bet. there is nothing wrong with this. your link to the ToS says (including but not limited to participation in player-run casinos, including those that utilize the roll mechanic)

and that only refers to scamming so if you roll and win and the Casino operator doesnt pay up then this is where the scamming comes in and against the ToS. Notice it says LIMITED TO and not only including. meaning there is more behind it.

    Gamble away my fellow gambleholic.

I guess you didn't read the quote I pulled from the EULA?

I had a friend get banned from WoW for a month doing in-game casinos.

All legit, mind you. Just simply rolling dice, but people got all pissed because random luck is a bad thing, apparently.

I wouldn't recommend it, either way. Tends to lead to complaints and just bad stuff all around, especially in-game.

When engaging in Chat, you may not:
    (including but not limited to participation in player-run casinos, including those that utilize the roll mechanic);
What part of this is hard to understand? You are not allowed to run casinos.

Including but not limited to means it is. Sorry.

To translate that into plain English; "Things which we see as scams would be Casinos, even if the roll mechanic is used and a lot more stuff that we will make a call on as we get butthurt complaints"

I'm not sure you understand what the ToS is implying with that sentence. It explicitly forbids players running casinos using RNG (in this case the roll function) in order to enable players to gamble. The 'limited to' means that they reserve the right to sanction players that are doing similar but not explicitly mentioned things. It's not allowed at this time, sorry.

This was in the same in WoW. The EU ToS had this disclaimer however the NA ToS did not, causing some confusion among players. RIFT however clearly mentions this.

Even if not gambling, some kind of in-game mini-games would be awesome.

The costumer service stated that its fine as long as their is no form of scamming involved. Including the methods that have been stated in this thread, It was correct that its only a scam if the host fails to pay his part of the agreement.
