Default Crafting Inventory Solutions: Crafting Bags or Crafting Inventory

As per the Topic Broached Here this thread is not a Poll, petition or criticism but rather a place to discuss the idea Mentioned in the first post of the linked thread; Mainly wouldn't it be nice to have a seperate bag/inventory option for crafting mats which could perhaps be accessable from the crafting station you work at?

All praise to Avgust for bringing the topic up.

I would love this so very much. Less fussing over inventory space, and running back and forth between work stations and the bank would make crafting and gathering much more enjoyable. Even if it's something you have to buy at ridic plat or marks, it would definitely be something I'd like to at least work toward.

I like and dislike this. If they include this then my bags are going to be pretty much empty. All that bank space for ... wardrobes? Dunno.

I'm pretty set on space right now, if they give us a lot more wardrobes or other items that i'll need to store away then yeah this might be needed or nice to have.

Right now I don't see it being required.

In my bags (the equipped ones, not bank) I already got 1 spare set of armor (need 1 pvp and 1 pve) plus some rings and stuff I swop around when we go to HK (more hit). On top of that I got some armor I use for wardrobes (sigh yes, not needed, but I'm female so well....). Then there are all my pots, whetstones, vials, melange.... you know.... And that's just the things that is there all the time.

Then there will be trash loot, artifacts and things... And THEN try to do a crafting rift or 10.... Oh how sweet it would be to have a place where the crafing mats went. So yeah a crafting bag on top of the normal inventory would be nice!

Hey wouldn't mind a "bank" or something for crafting mats and augments either, one that would be shared by all my characters (that is same faction and shard ofc).

And yes I'm not demanding, one them would be enough and nice to see

    Kysiel,

Thanks for keeping this topic alive. With intelligent and rational dialog we can only hope Trion will take notice and this might actually see the light of day at some point.

I am still really interested in the idea of providing a special "crafting inventory" attached to the crafting window. This would be reserved for crafting materials associated with your trained professions. I think I was suggesting 20 slots per profession. Other posters brought up the idea using crafting marks to purchase slots in the same way you purchase additional bank slots. Either idea would work.

I am not sure if there is a logical way for a newly developed crafting inventory to interact with your bank. I'm not sure there is a need to. If the concept is to create a new space for your crafting materials to free up inventory and bank space and allow convenient access to materials while crafting then I think our original suggestion would hit the mark.

    Portable Crafting
Taking a good idea and running with it. How about a level 300 crafting recipe/skill that gave you the ability to setup a portable loom, workbench, anvil while in the field or in smaller settlements? It sure would make smelting that ore and crafting your newly required ring recipe much more convenient. Could be a fun, value added thing.

Thanks again guys! Let's keep the dicussion going.

Funny how most of my desired improvement in RIFT center around inventory. Shows how well the game is doing on most levels, but inventory is a MAJOR part of an MMO and RIFT could improve daily life for us in this area.

Crafting mats take up a substantial part of my inventory. At least 2 of my 5 bags and it is generally spilling over into a 3rd or even 4th bag. Here are two potential ways to solve this.

    1. Specific Crafting Bags
"The other game" had bags craftable by outfitters which had many more slots, up to 32, but could only contain items specific to that professions. So a Runcrafter's bag could only contain runes and the mats needed to create them. This system worked okay, but you did have to rely on friendly outfitters for your solution which was sometimes a problem. The recipes for these bags should be made readily available from trainers and not difficult to acquire through quest lines or expensive crafters marks.

    2. Crafting Inventory attached to the Crafting Window
Similar to the recently added Quest Item Inventory attached to the Quest Log, this solution would ad 20 slots per profession to your Crafting Window. Not sure if TRION would go for this, but this would sure be a more elegant solution.
